Whyte T-130 S Trail Mountain Bike

This is a Dirt magazine 100 award winner 2017 upgraded for 2018 with SRAM Eagle 1x12 drivetrain and the Pike-inspired Rockshox Revelation RC fork.

Upgrades over Whyte T-130 SR 2018

  • The latest RockShox Revelation RC 130mm travel fork, with 35mm upper legs and a 110x15 Boost axle, is directly derived from the acclaimed new RockShox Pike
  • The SRAM GX Eagle drivetrain delivers 1x12 gear shifting via a 10-50 cassette, making this the widest range one-by transmission to date. The resulting 500% difference between top and bottom gear (compared with SRAM's previous best 420% 10-42 cassette) gives you the wings to soar high
  • Why you want a one-by drivetrain
  • SRAM's Level TL disc brakes match the SRAM gearing in terms of assured performance
  • The wider 27x2.3 front / 27.5x2.4" rear WTB Vigilante Light High Grip tyres add further credence to the growing consensus that wider tyres' extra traction and flotation makes for an all-round better ride
  • The dropper seatpost is the best proven RockShox Reverb Stealth

Same as Whyte T-130 SR 2018

  • Whyte SCR Single Chain Ring specific dual suspension 6061 aluminium hydroformed frame
  • Its SCS Symmetrical Chain Stays and its wider main pivot create an even stronger and more reliably flex-resistant rig
  • SCR translates to you, the rider, as improved cornering confidence and enhanced suspension performance
  • 148mm Boost rear dropouts reinforces this bikes rigid-where-required theme
  • Tubeless ready rims and tyres make it very viable to upgrade to tubeless
  • The 760/780mm wide bars on the shorter stem (40 or 50mm depending on frame size) deliver sharp steering response.

The benefits of Whyte's unique MTB trail geometry in their own words
'
We push the front wheel further in front of the rider at a slacker angle to the frame. This helps the steering ‘self correct', keeping you on track whether you're ripping down a rowdy mountain trail or a back road short cut turns out shady. By adding a long reach top tube we can team the stable steering with a super short, snap reacting stem for dodging traffic and potholes on the way to work or surfing sliding tyres down a black run descent. Add our own carefully selected handlebar shapes and you've got the perfect balanced of confident communication and connection in your hands.

Steering feel alone isn't enough to create a benchmark setting, award winning handling character though. We also drop the centre of gravity of our bikes as low as possible so they naturally glue themselves onto the ground through corners rather than leaving you perched and precarious. Because driving a barge is dull we keep the back ends super short whatever the wheel size to guarantee the hop and pop agility you need to bring the trail alive.'

Add all the other features that make a Whyte mountain bike special, such as their unique Quad 4 suspension with UK-proof lifetime guaranteed pivot bearings, it's hard to imagine a better trail bike for the money. See our Why we're in love with Whyte mountain bikes blog

Here's how Whyte describe the T-130 S
'The T-130 S features our "multi award winning” SCR single ring specific frame with mega-stiff symmetrical chainstays. A full width main pivot increases torsional stiffness, extends bearing life and maximises suspension performance.

To further improve the hugely popular T-130 S for 2018 this bike gets Eagle GX. This evolutionary groupset gives the rider a massive 500% gear range allowing Whyte to increase the chain ring size without sacrificing the lower gearing size.

The T-130 S also gets a suspension upgrade for this season. The all new Rockshox Revelation RC is a ground up design based on the brand new Pike fork. This Trail fork brings new levels of lightweight stiffness and balance to the award wining T-130 S.'
