Whyte G-170C Works 2018 Enduro Full Suspension MTB

'Works' means, 'as ridden by Whyte's pro team', so you can be confident this 170mm-travel carbon-frame Whyte G-170C full-suspension enduro rig works extremely well.

Upgrades from Whyte G-170C RS 2018

  • X01 version of the SRAM Eagle drivetrain
  • RCT3 version of the RockShox Lyrik fork
  • RSC version of the SRAM Guide brakes
  • Super deluxe wheels featuring Whyte 30mm Carbon Hookless rims on Hope Pro 4 stainless steel cartridge sealed bearing hubs

Same as Whyte G-170C RS 2018

  • Stiffer, lighter weight carbon main frame
  • The RockShox Lyric fork is famed for offering Pike-like (i.e. the best) performance, but with thicker tubing and a more beefy arch to cope with its longer 170mm travel
  • SRAM Eagle 1x12 gearing simplifies and improves the drivetrain.
  • The SRAM Eagle drivetrain delivers 1x12 gear shifting via a 10-50 cassette, making this the widest range one-by transmission to date. The resulting 500% difference between top and bottom gear (compared with SRAM's previous best 420% 10-42 cassette) gives you the wings to soar high
  • Why you want a one-by drivetrain
  • Trail rider's favourite Maxxis High Roller II TR, 27.5” x 2.4” front / 27.5” x 2.3” rear folding bead tyres with EXO Sidewall Protection
  • The rear hub's cartridge sealed bearing helps make for a smoother rolling wheel

The benefits of Whyte's unique MTB trail geometry in their own words
'
We push the front wheel further in front of the rider at a slacker angle to the frame. This helps the steering ‘self correct', keeping you on track whether you're ripping down a rowdy mountain trail or a back road short cut turns out shady. By adding a long reach top tube we can team the stable steering with a super short, snap reacting stem for dodging traffic and potholes on the way to work or surfing sliding tyres down a black run descent. Add our own carefully selected handlebar shapes and you've got the perfect balanced of confident communication and connection in your hands.

Steering feel alone isn't enough to create a benchmark setting, award winning handling character though. We also drop the centre of gravity of our bikes as low as possible so they naturally glue themselves onto the ground through corners rather than leaving you perched and precarious. Because driving a barge is dull we keep the back ends super short whatever the wheel size to guarantee the hop and pop agility you need to bring the trail alive.'

Add all the other features that make a Whyte mountain bike special, such as their unique Quad 4 suspension with UK-proof lifetime guaranteed pivot bearings, it's hard to imagine a better trail bike for the money. See our Why we're in love with Whyte mountain bikes

The G-170C Works 2018 in Whyte's own words
This bike will not only be raced by our Gravity Enduro team - it was actually designed in conjunction with them. Their input to the geometry, combined with the new carbon front triangle and oversize hardware, adds up to a very stiff and capable chassis.

This bike is ready for anything you want to throw at it, from hard-core trail riding to EWS Enduro racing. With its clever open front triangle design it is possible to fit various option of rear shock including coil shocks but still carry a full size water bottle.

The G-170 has extra width built into the rear chainstays to allow the rider to fully exploit the future developments in wide high volume tyres but maintain mud clearance.
