The Comet is built to take wide road bike-sized 700x37 tyres, not 26x2" MTB rubber. Similarly the alloy frame is built with narrower-diameter tubing so it rides more like a touring bike than a mountain bike - that wee bit faster and easier to accelerate - while still able to cope with less-than-smooth roads, thanks to those Continental Contact puncture-resistant tyres.
