Liv Avail Advanced 2 - Women's Carbon Road Bike

The Liv Avail is one superb road bike for women. The Avail falls into the 'endurance' AKA comfort AKA sportive category of road bikes. Its true road geometry (72 degree head angle and 74 degree seat tube angle in medium size) positions you on the bike to help you achieve maximum output (i.e. speed for your effort) to offer an engaging, exciting ride. Its slightly taller head tube and longer wheelbase (compared with a flat-out race bike) makes the Avail a comfortable ride for longer distance sportive-like rides.

Key Features

  • Advanced-grade carbon composite frameset

  • Giant Conduct SL hydraulic disc brakes
  • Advanced carbon composite fork

Liv Avail Advanced Carbon Composite Frameset

  • This is comfortably among the lightest disc brake road frames at this kind of price
  • Every Liv Avail Advanced frameset is fabricated in-house by Giant, from its raw performance-grade Toray T-700 carbon filament to its final lacquered finish, to create a stiffer, lighter weight and more compliant ride
  • Blending Toray T700 carbon filament and resin with vibration-absorbing particles helps maximise rider comfort and frame strength (hence the lifetime guarantee)
  • Modified Monocoque Construction: the front triangle is assembled and moulded as one continuous piece
  • The main frame is then joined to the rear chainstays and seatstays in a secondary process
  • This process eliminates the outermost woven composite sheet to reduce weight without affecting ride quality, strength or stiffness
  • 12mm front and rear thru-axles reinforce the crucial interface between dropouts and wheels to optimise brake performance

Advanced Carbon Composite fork

The Liv Avail’s lightweight shock-absorbing Advanced Grade Composite carbon fork legs go a long way to creating a responsive, fast-steering, exciting ride, while the tapered aluminium steerer reinforces the front end of the bike.

Giant D-Fuse Seatpost

The Giant D-shaped seatpost helps damp bad vibes that would otherwise be transmitted from unsmooth road surfaces. Also, being D-shaped, it's impossible to set the saddle up squint when it's mounted to a Giant D-Fuse Seatpost. The Carbon composite version of the D-Fuse seatpost, spec'd here, is even more shock damping than the alloy version.

Tubeless Tyres

Previously reserved for their £2K-plus Pro models, Liv believe so much in the benefits of going tubeless (such as a smoother ride and fewer flats) they have introduced tubeless tyres to most of their £1,000-plus bikes. Why this is a good thing.

Giant Conduct Hydraulic Disc Brakes

Giant's unique take on cable-operated hydraulic disc brakes: each brake is initially cable controlled from the Shimano 105 STI brake lever, but only to its reservoir, which is hidden under the handlebar stem from where a hydraulic line connects it to the caliper. The benefit of this system is that you get the improved power and modulation of a hydraulic brake while the caliper is much neater than previous hybrid cable/hydraulic systems for road bikes. See Giant video.
