Product Description

Kalkhoff Durban 7 2018 men's

This is something the Europeans do best - a comfortable city bike that's fully equipped with hub gears, dynamo lights, mudguards, chain guard and a rack.

  • Smooth stylish design, you can tell why Kalkhoff are one of Germany's most highly regarded bicycle companies.
  • Shimano Nexus 7-speed internal hub gears are intrinsically cleaner, lower maintenance and longer lasting than derailleur systems.
  • The Nexus twist grip gear shifter allows you to select any gear with a single sweep.
  • You can change gear whether the bike is moving or stationary and whether you're pedalling or freewheeling.
  • Real Shimano V-brakes are simple and reliable.
  • Rolls on durable, puncture resistant Schwalbe 700x42 tyres, which are equally capable on smooth roads and rough tracks.
  • Fitted with full mudguards, pannier rack, chainguard and kickstand.
  • The front dynamo hub powers the high quality front and rear LED lights, so no light batteries to replace or recharge.
  • Unlike some dynamo systems, the lights have a standlight feature, so they stay on when you stop at the traffic lights.

1st ride out updateReview by ajw141
Just got back from a relatively flat ride, with some sharp hills, around our local countryside (Chorley, South Ribble, Preston). GPS says 48.2 miles. Mainly used gears 4-5-6 occasionally going down to 2 and 1 for the really steep bits. No sore knees, back, bum or hands. Bike is brilliant. Only addition was a bottle holder off my old bike and a bag strapped onto the rear rack worked until I sort my old panniers out. (Posted on 09/05/2017)
Smooth, surprisingly quick and nimble.Review by Greenfinger
Bought the XL version mail order as I'm 6 foot 2 inches. Got off to a bad start with Parcelforce delivering a day late! Good thing I'm retired. However, once I'd set it up quickly and easily with the enclosed toolkit and instructions all the waiting angst disappeared. Love the 7 hub gears, the very bright LED lights, strong pannier rack and the smart chain guard. Maintenance will be a doddle. Handles well as it's relatively light and so it's quite fast away from lights despite (or perhaps because of) the wide 42mm Schwalbe Citizen tyres which also make it comfortable. It looks cool too in its powder coat black. Now my wife is talking about replacing her hybrid! (Posted on 08/05/2017)
A lot for a littleReview by ajw141
Brilliant bike with everything you need. The quality is great and riding dynamics spot on. Bought this bike and had a whizz around the block. Fat middle aged bloke found this to be comfy, responsive and soooooo easy to ride. Ideal for daily commute and shopping trips. Staff at shop great, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Well done chaps. (Posted on 05/05/2017)

Hi there,

I am very interested in buying this bike; I have a few questions though...

Is the dynamo wiring hidden in the frame? Is there a mount hole for one of those rear wheel clamp locks? Is the front wheel quick release? Is the seat post quick release? (I am not a big fan of quick release)

If I want to fit tubless tyres to this bike is it easy to do and what width of trye is best to use?
What valve is the tyres fitted with ? So I know what pump to buy.
I'm slightly taller than the last questioner on size - 1.76m. Would medium still be okay for me, or should I go for large? Thank you!
I am 5'9" tall. Would you recommend the the medium or large?
What does the Durban 7 weigh?
