In the world of cycle touring, an Audax is a loosely-organised cycle ride, usually 200-600km long. An Audax is not a race. You are however expected to maintain a minimum average speed - usually 14kph - and the clock keeps ticking, even when you stop for a break.
The Dawes Audax is therefore a fast tourer with lighter weight frame tubes, side pull brakes (not cantis), and narrower tyres & mudguards.
