The Tern HSD
Key Features of the Tern HSD:
- Low step frame that adjusts quickly and easily to suit riders from 4’11” to 6’ 5”.
- 170kg weight limit, 60kg rated rear rack – perfect for luggage or a bicycle child seat .
- Custom Suntour suspension fork: 70mm travel, 1.5” tapered steerer, 15mm thru axle and tested/rated to 170kg.
- Flat folding handlebar to aid storage, transport and allow for vertical storage.
- Single battery only, 400Wh or 500Wh depending on model.
- All models use the latest generation Bosch motors, either Active Line Plus or Performance Line Gen 3, model dependent.
- Variety of accessories to aid load carrying.

Four main differences between the Tern HSD and GSD
- Price – the HSD starts at £3,300 while the GSD starts at £4,000.
- Weight – the HSD is around 2kg lighter but it also has a 30kg reduction in carrying capacity making the maximum load 170kg (200kg for the GSD).
- Size – while the GSD can be fitted with two child seats, the HSD is slightly shorter so can only accommodate one.
- Range – the HSD comes with a single battery only which is a consideration if planning longer rides before recharging.

At a glance: Quiet and low maintenance Gates CDX belt drive combined with a Shimano Nexus 8 hub gear (which gives the ability to shift while stationary). It is also fitted with Magura MT4 disc brakes. Bosch Performance Line motor, 545Wh battery and Kiox display.
