There have been some top films about or featuring cycling over the years. Here are some of our favourites
E.T: The Extraterrestrial (1982)
Not so much about cycling but we are including this because of that certain scene involving the moon and a daring rescue on bicycles. A good bit of nostalgia for when everything was done on a bike.
Icarus (2017)
Non-fiction now, of a story of a man who wanted to film the effects of a performance enhancing drug on his body in an amateur race but is soon tumbling down a rabbit hole of an international doping scandal. A shocking whirlwind of a ride and well worth a watch.
Bicycle Thieves (1948)
Rumoured to be one of the best films of all time. A man’s livelihood is threatened when his bike is stolen so he and his son embark on a journey to get it back.
Premium Rush (2012)
A full film about bicycles! A NY cycle courier gets a valuable package that a corrupt cop wants to get his hands on. An enjoyable, fast paced thriller with the amazing cast including Joseph Gordon Levitt and Michael Shannon.
Pee-Wee’s Big adventure (1985)
Who is old enough to remember Pee Wee Herman??? And, more importantly, who remembers the bike he had? A childhood favourite.
