The same aero frame as the pro bikes, at a price that makes sense
The Merida Reacto 4000 uses the identical super-aero carbon frame as Merida's top-level models. That's worth repeating: same shape, same wind-cheating tube profiles, same geometry. What changes at this price point is the groupset and finishing kit, and Merida has made smart choices there too.
Frame and aerodynamics
This is a Merida carbon road bike with the latest-generation Reacto frame, which brings improved aerodynamics and reduced weight over the previous version.
Tyre clearance goes up to 32mm, so you can run wider rubber for wet UK roads without compromising the aero profile. The frame balances stiffness for sprinting with enough compliance to keep you comfortable when the road surface falls apart, which on British B-roads happens more often than anyone would like.
Groupset
Shimano 105 with hydraulic disc brakes. Reliable, precise, and easy to maintain. It shifts cleanly under load, brakes confidently in the wet, and gives you a groupset you can race on straight away or upgrade piece by piece as your riding progresses. For a carbon aero bike at this level, it's a well-judged pairing.
Who is the Merida Reacto 4000 for?
This Merida aero road bike suits riders who want a fast road bike for racing, sportives, and quick group rides without spending top-tier money. If you're getting into crits, doing your first road race, or training with a club and want a bike that keeps up when the pace lifts, the Reacto 4000 is a strong starting point.
It's also a good choice if you already ride and want a dedicated aero bike alongside a more relaxed endurance frame. The Reacto is built to go fast in a straight line and hold speed on the flat, so it rewards hard efforts.
If comfort over very long distances is your priority, a more endurance-focused geometry will suit you better. But for pace on tarmac, the Merida Reacto road bike is difficult to beat at this price.
The Mineral Gold colourway is warm and understated. It catches the light well without being flashy.
