The Brompton Electric C Line 4 Speed keeps everything that makes a Brompton a Brompton, the fold, the size, the handbuilt quality, and adds a proper electric motor.
The 2026 model runs the all-new e-Motiq system, first proven on the G Line, with a 345Wh battery good for up to 90 km of range. It folds to the same compact size, fits under a desk or in a train luggage rack, and weighs enough less than most e-bikes that you can still carry it up a flight of stairs.
The Matt Black finish is clean and understated. If you want a black folding e-bike that doesn't attract attention on public transport or in the office, the Brompton Electric Matt Black is hard to beat.
The e-Motiq system
Brompton engineered e-Motiq in-house. A torque sensor reads how hard you're pedalling and adds assistance proportionally, so the power feels smooth rather than sudden. Three power modes give you control over how much help you get, and Start Assist lets you pull away from traffic lights without stamping on the pedals.
The battery clicks out in seconds for charging at home, at work, or anywhere with a plug socket. Over-the-air firmware updates keep the system current without trips to a workshop.
Four gears, three power modes
The 4-speed hub gear pairs well with the motor. You get enough range in the gearing for steep climbs, flat stretches and everything between. The combination of mechanical gears and electronic power modes means you can fine-tune the ride to your legs and the terrain.

Who is this bike for?
The Brompton Electric C Line 4 Speed is for UK commuters who mix cycling with trains, buses or driving. The fold is the point. No other folding electric bike in the UK packs down this small or this quickly, which matters when you're squeezing onto a packed Southern Rail service or storing it in a small flat.
It also suits riders who like the idea of cycling to work but find the distance or the hills put them off. The motor takes the sting out of longer rides and hilly routes without turning you into a passenger.
As a compact electric bike, the Brompton C Line sits in a category of its own.
