Brompton C Line 4 Speed 2026 Folding Bike in Palm Green
If you've looked at a Brompton before, you've probably come across the C Line. It's the original, the one most people think of when they think Brompton. And for good reason: the Brompton C Line 4 Speed does the job it's supposed to do, reliably and without fuss, day after day.
So what is it?
A steel-framed folding bike, handbuilt in Brompton's London factory, with a powder-coated finish and a 4-speed hub gear. It folds down in about 20 seconds into a compact package you can wheel beside you, tuck under a desk, or carry onto a train. That fold is what separates a Brompton from every other small bike: it's quick, it's tight, and it works every time without wrestling the thing into shape.
The C Line 4 Speed sits in the middle of the Brompton gear range. Four gears cover flat city riding and moderate hills comfortably. If your commute is mostly urban with a few inclines, four speeds is plenty. If you're regularly climbing steep gradients or riding longer distances, the 6-speed may suit you better, but for most city use the 4-speed is the do-it-all workhorse of the range.
What you get
- 4-speed hub gearing
- Front carrier block for Brompton bags (clips on and off in seconds, keeps the weight low and balanced)
- Brompton saddle, 147mm width
- Folding left pedal, non-folding right
- Powder-coated steel frame, handbuilt in London
The Palm Green colour
The Brompton C Line Palm Green is a rich, warm green that sits somewhere between olive and forest. It's one of the more distinctive Brompton colours and tends to look better in person than on screen. If you've been browsing for a green Brompton bike, this is the shade worth seeing before you decide.
Who rides a C Line?
Commuters, mostly. People who cycle to the station, fold, board, unfold, and cycle again. But also people who live in flats with no bike storage, travellers who want a bike they can take on a plane, and city riders who want something they can bring inside a pub or restaurant without leaving it locked up outside.
The C Line is heavier than the titanium P Line by about 2kg. If carrying weight matters to you (stairs, longer walks with the bike folded) the P Line is worth comparing. But the C Line costs less and rides with the same geometry and fold.
The Brompton C Line 4 Speed is available through our shop. If you want to compare C Line and P Line, try the fold, or see the Brompton Palm Green finish in person, our team is always happy to help.
