The Specialized Turbo Levo SL 2 Comp Alloy is Specialized's answer to a question a lot of trail riders have been asking for years: what if an electric mountain bike actually felt like a proper trail bike? Not something heavy and reluctant, but something you'd genuinely choose to ride regardless of the motor. That's the whole point of the Levo SL.
If you're weighing up the range of Specialized Turbo Levo mountain bikes and wondering where the Comp Alloy sits, it's the model that gives you the full SL experience, including the lightweight alloy chassis and SL 1.2 motor, without the carbon frame price tag.
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE RIDE
The SL 2 Comp is built to disappear beneath you once you're moving. Specialized stripped back the weight to keep the Turbo Levo SL 2 Comp Alloy lean and fast-responding, so it flicks through tight corners and picks apart rock gardens without feeling sluggish. It's tough enough for sustained abuse on rough terrain, but light enough that you'd hardly call it an e-bike in the traditional sense.
THE GENIE AIR SPRING
The GENIE system is Specialized's patent-pending air spring technology, and it addresses something that's always been a compromise on trail bikes: the conflict between grip through rough sections and bottom-out control at the end of the stroke. GENIE combines the linear feel of a coil spring through the bump zone with a progressive rate at the end of the stroke, giving you maximum traction and genuine bottom-out resistance in the same package. On technical UK trail centres, where the ground is rarely predictable, that's a meaningful advantage.
GEOMETRY OF CONTROL
The Specialized Turbo Levo Comp's geometry has been thought through carefully. A low bottom bracket, slack head tube angle, and three customisable head angle options (63°, 64.25°, and 65.5°) mean you can dial in how the bike handles before you even hit the trail. The alloy chassis is built with lateral stiffness in mind for efficient power transfer through rough ground, and the mixed wheel setup, 29" front, 27.5" rear, balances stability with a short chainstay for nimble, responsive handling. Flip the pivot link chip and you can run a 29" rear wheel if you prefer the extra roll-over.
THE MOTOR AND BATTERY
The SL 1.2 motor is whisper-quiet and smooth in a way that genuinely surprises people who've ridden older or heavier e-MTBs. It puts out 50Nm of torque and 320 watts of power, which is 43% and 33% more respectively than the previous generation. The integrated 320Wh battery supports up to five hours of riding in Eco Mode, and if you need more range, Specialized's 160Wh Range Extender sits neatly in your bottle cage for an extra 50% capacity, sold separately.
TURBO OPERATING SYSTEM AND APP INTEGRATION
The MasterMind TCU connects the Specialized Electric MTB's motor and battery to Specialized's own app, letting you adjust power levels with MicroTune, receive over-the-air updates, and access security features including Smart Control and Turbo System Lock. It's a properly joined-up system, not just a motor bolted onto a frame.
