The Pakgo EX+ is the wider-compatibility version of Topeak's travel case range, built to carry road, gravel, and mountain bikes. If the standard Pakgo EX didn't fit your bike, this is the one to look at.
The shell is Makrolon polycarbonate, the same material used across the Pakgo range: lightweight, flexible enough to absorb knocks, and hard enough to take what airport baggage handling throws at it without denting or cracking.
Moving it around
Four 60mm multi-directional wheels mean you can roll it through a terminal, across cobbles, or along a pavement without wrestling it into corners. There are carry handles for the moments wheels aren't practical, getting it in and out of a car boot, up a kerb, or into an overhead luggage-friendly position if that ever applies.
The case stands upright, so it moves more like a large suitcase than the flat bike boxes that take up an entire trolley and tip at the first opportunity.
Packing and protection
Protective sleeves cover the frame tubes and fork blades, and the drivetrain cover keeps your cassette, chainring, and derailleur from marking the inside of the case or transferring grease to everything packed around them. Inner pockets handle the smaller stuff: tools, skewers, pedals, whatever you'd otherwise lose in transit.
A few details that are worth noting:
- Padded foam lining adds a layer of impact protection inside the shell
- Four rubber bumpers, one on each side, protect the case from ground contact and absorb impact when the case opens flat
- A Bottom Bracket tool is included to keep the frame correctly positioned once the bike is out of the case
Who this suits
Road cyclists, gravel riders, and mountain bikers who fly with their bikes and want a hardshell bicycle transport case that handles the full range of modern wheel sizes. The EX+ is the better choice if you're on a 27.5" or 29" wheeled bike, where the standard Pakgo EX isn't compatible.
If you travel a few times a year and want a bike travel case that rolls properly, packs sensibly, and doesn't need bubble wrap and prayers to protect your frame, the Topeak Pakgo EX+ is a practical, well-thought-out option.
