Details

Whyte T-130 SR 2018

The all-new T130 SR is a more affordable Fox Shock/Shimano SLX 1x11-equipped intro to Whyte's multi-award winning 130mm travel Trail Suspension platform.

Don't be put off by the 'more affordable' tag. The 2018 Whyte T-130 SR retains the key features that encouraged Dirt Magazine to list the last year's T-130 S in their best of 2017 Dirt 100 roundup.

Key Features

  • Whyte SCR Single Chain Ring specific dual suspension 6061 aluminium hydroformed frame
  • Its SCS Symmetrical Chain Stays and its wider main pivot create an even stronger and more reliably flex-resistant rig
  • SCR translates to you, the rider, as improved cornering confidence and enhanced suspension performance
  • 148mm Boost rear dropouts reinforces this bikes rigid-where-required theme
  • The Fox shock and fork ensure you enjoy the full benefits of Whyte's award winning Quad 4 suspension
  • The WTB TCS (tubeless compatible system) 29mm-wide rims and 27.5x2.3/2.25 High Roller TR (tubeless ready) tyres make it very viable to upgrade to tubeless
  • Whyte's new Drop.it dropper seatpost with smooth-operating bar-mounted Paddle Remote lever makes it super easy to adjust the saddle on the move: high enough for efficient climbing and low enough for epic downhilling
  • Shimano SLX 1x11 delivers all the benefits of today's one-by transmissions
  • TRP Slate T4 4-pot brakes deliver the fingertip control you expect from the best hydraulic disc brakes
  • The 760/780mm wide bars on the shorter stem (40 or 50mm depending on frame size) deliver sharp steering response.

The benefits of Whyte's unique MTB trail geometry in their own words
'
We push the front wheel further in front of the rider at a slacker angle to the frame. This helps the steering ‘self correct', keeping you on track whether you're ripping down a rowdy mountain trail or a back road short cut turns out shady. By adding a long reach top tube we can team the stable steering with a super short, snap reacting stem for dodging traffic and potholes on the way to work or surfing sliding tyres down a black run descent. Add our own carefully selected handlebar shapes and you've got the perfect balanced of confident communication and connection in your hands.

Steering feel alone isn't enough to create a benchmark setting, award winning handling character though. We also drop the centre of gravity of our bikes as low as possible so they naturally glue themselves onto the ground through corners rather than leaving you perched and precarious. Because driving a barge is dull we keep the back ends super short whatever the wheel size to guarantee the hop and pop agility you need to bring the trail alive.'

Add all the other features that make a Whyte mountain bike special, such as their unique Quad 4 suspension with UK-proof lifetime guaranteed pivot bearings, it's hard to imagine a better trail bike for the money. See our Why we're in love with Whyte mountain bikes blog

Here's how Whyte describe the T-130 SR
'The T-130 SR is new for 2018. It's available from XS to XL and brings the very latest MTB features to a more affordable price point.

WTB STp i29 rims and TR Maxxis tyres give a Tubeless ready wheelset which, when combined with the Fox Rhythm 34 fork and Fox Float DPS double chamber rear shock, give the SR the ability to tame your favourite trails.

Frame size specific Whyte, drop.it, seat posts give each size of rider the perfect ride height and travel for their bike.'
