Whyte 905 2019 Trail Hardtail MTB

Upgraded for 2019 with Sram Eagle 1x12 speed gearing with that 11-50t wide ratio cassette,Sram Trail T 4-pot brakes and Rockshox Revelation RC forks to make it even more trailworthy.

Upgrades from Whyte 901

  • RockShox Revelation RC fork with lighter weight 35mm aluminium upper legs (the 901's Recon fork has 32mm diameter steel legs) and DebonAir spring for enhanced small bump sensitivity and mid-stroke support
  • Sram Eagle 1x12 speed gearing
  • SRAM Trail T 4-pot brakes for more powerful braking
  • Why you should consider a bike with high quality hydraulic disc brakes - the blog.

Same as Whyte 901

New for 2019
For 2019, every Whyte 900-series bike has got even better thanks to the 37mm offset forks. This is the same "short offset" philosophy that was applied the highly-successful S-150

Whyte's latest OTO (optimised trail offset) geomentry system uses a new generation of reduced offset forks. It increases the trail for improved steering stability, and moves the mass of the fork and wheel closer to the steering axis for a more neutral steering feel.

Same as it ever was

  • With its lighter weight custom tubing, its hydroformed alloy frame optimised for UK riding conditions and its progressive geometry to keep the rider centered and in control, this bike boasts the key features we love about Whyte mountain bikes - see blog
  • The 900-Series frame is built for the bike's one-by transmission, so it features Boost dropouts to take the longer, stronger 12x148mm axle appropriate for a rear hub with an 12 speed cassette
  • This frame design maximises the strength and integrity of the rear wheel by positioning the Boost hub flanges more outboard, thus reducing stress on the spokes
  • The tyres and rims are tubeless ready
  • Why upgrade to tubeless?

The benefits of Whyte's unique MTB trail geometry in their own words
'
We push the front wheel further in front of the rider at a slacker angle to the frame. This helps the steering ‘self correct’, keeping you on track whether you’re ripping down a rowdy mountain trail or a back road short cut turns out shady. By adding a long reach top tube we can team the stable steering with a super short, snap reacting stem for dodging traffic and potholes on the way to work or surfing sliding tyres down a black run descent. Add our own carefully selected handlebar shapes and you’ve got the perfect balanced of confident communication and connection in your hands.

Steering feel alone isn’t enough to create a benchmark setting, award winning handling character though. We also drop the centre of gravity of our bikes as low as possible so they naturally glue themselves onto the ground through corners rather than leaving you perched and precarious. Because driving a barge is dull we keep the back ends super short whatever the wheel size to guarantee the hop and pop agility you need to bring the trail alive.'

Here's how Whyte describe the Whyte 905
'The 905 defines the modern Trail Hardtail. A stripped back SCR frame and new RockShox Revelation forks (with Motion Control damper and short 37mm offset) combine with 2.8" tyres to make this 905 the best yet.

The 905 brings ideas directly from our Whyte Enduro team, from the thicker V-Grips to the use of 170mm cranks, which bring the rider 5mm closer to the ground without compromising pedal clearance.

WTB STp i35 35mm wide TCS rims combined with Maxxis 2.8" high volume TR 3C compounds, create more comfort, more grip and more fun!'
