Whyte 905 Enduro Hardtail MTB

9/10 MBR Award Winner (March 2017) upgraded for 2018 with bigger volume tyres, slacker geometry and Rockshox Revelation forks to make it even more trailworthy.

Upgrades from Whyte 901

  • RockShox Revelation fork with lighter weight 35mm aluminium upper legs (the 901's Recon fork has 32mm diameter steel legs) and DebonAir spring for enhanced small bump sensitivity and mid-stroke support
  • Whyte's new dropper seatpost with smooth-operating bar-mounted Paddle Remote lever makes it super easy to adjust the saddle high enough for efficient climbing, and low enough for epic downhilling
  • Larger volume Maxxis 27.5x2.8" Hi Roller II tyres on wider 35mm rims offer such a compliant ride with extra traction, flotation and cushioning, they may may well deliver all the rear suspension you'll ever require
  • SRAM GX rear mech and more burly SRAM Descendant crankset for enhanced 1x11 shifting
  • SRAM Level T brakes for fingertip control

Same as Whyte 901

New for 2018
For 2018, every Whyte 900-series bike has got even better thanks to its lower bottom bracket (297mm - was 305mm), its even more relaxed geometry via its 65˚ head tube / 73˚ seat tube angle (was 66.5/74˚) and its larger volume tyres.

Same as it ever was

  • With its lighter weight custom tubing, its hydroformed alloy frame optimised for UK riding conditions and its progressive geometry to keep the rider centered and in control, this bike boasts the key features we love about Whyte mountain bikes - see blog
  • The 900-Series frame is built for the bike's one-by transmission, so it features Boost dropouts to take the longer, stronger 12x148mm axle appropriate for a rear hub with an 11 speed cassette
  • This frame design maximises the strength and integrity of the rear wheel by positioning the Boost hub flanges more outboard, thus reducing stress on the spokes
  • Its SRAM transmission has all the German-engineered features that has made SRAM 1x11 transmissions so desirable - see blog.
  • SRAM Level hydraulic disc brakes make SRAM Guide DH brake technology available in a lighter weight format.
  • Why you should consider a bike with high quality hydraulic disc brakes - the blog.
  • The tyres and rims are tubeless ready
  • Why upgrade to tubeless?

The benefits of Whyte's unique MTB trail geometry in their own words
We push the front wheel further in front of the rider at a slacker angle to the frame. This helps the steering ‘self correct', keeping you on track whether you're ripping down a rowdy mountain trail or a back road short cut turns out shady. By adding a long reach top tube we can team the stable steering with a super short, snap reacting stem for dodging traffic and potholes on the way to work or surfing sliding tyres down a black run descent. Add our own carefully selected handlebar shapes and you've got the perfect balanced of confident communication and connection in your hands.

Steering feel alone isn't enough to create a benchmark setting, award winning handling character though. We also drop the centre of gravity of our bikes as low as possible so they naturally glue themselves onto the ground through corners rather than leaving you perched and precarious. Because driving a barge is dull we keep the back ends super short whatever the wheel size to guarantee the hop and pop agility you need to bring the trail alive.'

Here's how Whyte describe the Whyte 905
'The 2018 905 defines the modern Trail Hardtail. Its stripped back SCR frame, the all new RockShox Revelation fork and the 2.8” tyres make this the best 905 Whyte have ever built.

The new 2018 905 brings ideas directly from our Whyte Enduro team, from the thicker V-Grips to the use of 170mm cranks to bring the rider 5mm closer to the ground without compromising pedal clearance.

WTB STp i35 35mm wide TCS rims combined with Maxxis 2.8” high volume TR 3C compounds create more comfort, more grip and more fun!'
