Whyte 805 2019 Hardtail MTB

The Whyte 805 is like the 801 upgraded with with Boost 110x15mm axle while the tyres and rims are tubeless ready.

Upgrades from Whyte 801

  • The Maxle 15mm screw-through axle noticeably stiffens up the fork/front hub interface yet it's almost as easy to secure and release as a regular roadie QR
  • The wheels spin more smoothly on sealed cartridge bearings hubs
  • The grippy, front and rear specific Maxxis Forekaster and Maxxis Crossmark II 27.5x2.25” inch tyres and the WTB STp i25 rims are tubeless ready
  • Why upgrade to tubeless?

Same as Whyte 801

Shimano one-by, slack head tube angle, short chainstays, 120mm Rockshox, internal cable routing...the 2019 Whyte 800-series MTB is trail ready as ever.

Such as the SCR (Single Chain Ring) frame and its 1x10 drivetrain make the 800-series MTB even closer to Whyte's 4-figure multi-award winning 900-series trail MTBs.

  • More radical trail geometry (66.5˚ head tube angle) makes the 800-series MTB an even more confidence inspiring ride - especially on downhills
  • Longer (120mm) travel Rockshox copes better with more challenging terrain
  • Shimano Deore 1x10 drivetrain and 11-46t ratio cassette offers further proof the one-by is the way to go
  • Why you want a one-by drivetrain
  • Whyte 6061 hydroformed frame with custom tubing for lightest weight in its class
  • The frame is made especially clean with Whyte's BBX (bottom bracket exit) internal cable routing, which is weather sealed, dropper-seat ready, and designed to facilitate easier cable replacement in years to come
  • Tektro Auriga brakes - given how many great bikes come with these stoppers, Aurigas are probably the best proven hydraulic disc brakes in mountain biking today. Why you want hydraulic disc brakes
  • The 780mm wide bars with Whyte Lock-on V Grip put you in control

The benefits of Whyte's unique MTB trail geometry in their own words
'
We push the front wheel further in front of the rider at a slacker angle to the frame. This helps the steering ‘self correct’, keeping you on track whether you’re ripping down a rowdy mountain trail or a back road short cut turns out shady. By adding a long reach top tube we can team the stable steering with a super short, snap reacting stem for dodging traffic and potholes on the way to work or surfing sliding tyres down a black run descent. Add our own carefully selected handlebar shapes and you’ve got the perfect balanced of confident communication and connection in your hands.

Steering feel alone isn’t enough to create a benchmark setting, award winning handling character though. We also drop the centre of gravity of our bikes as low as possible so they naturally glue themselves onto the ground through corners rather than leaving you perched and precarious. Because driving a barge is dull we keep the back ends super short whatever the wheel size to guarantee the hop and pop agility you need to bring the trail alive.'

Add all the other features that make a Whyte mountain bike special, it's hard to imagine a better trail bike for the money. See our Why we’re in love with Whyte mountain bikes blog

Here's how Whyte describe the 805
'The 800 Series frame uses the very latest Whyte geometry, based around a longer top tube, a short stem and wide 780mm bar.The BBX internal cable routing keeps cables clean and clear of grime whatever the conditions, while Whyte’s surefooted geometry will make you want to ride come rain or shine. It also allows the rider to easily upgrade to the Whyte Drop.it dropper post.

WTB STP i25 TCS System rims with Maxxis TR front and rear specific tyres combine to make a Tubeless Ready package, with enough grip to fully exploit the 800 series trail geometry.'
