Product Description

Specialized Roubaix Expert Ultegra Di2 2018

One of the fastest and most comfortable road bike frames on the planet with instantaneous Shimano Ultegra Di2 gear shifting.

This bike has all the attributes of the Roubaix Comp voted Cycling Plus Bike of the Year 2017 such as Future Shock suspension that smooths rough roads without compromising performance - see our blog

Then it's made even more amazing, courtesy of new Shimano Ultegra Di2 - the ultimate 'didn't know how good it was till I got it' upgrade in gear shifting.

Meanwhile the hydraulic disc brakes are upgraded this year to full Ultegra level which are flat mount and feature more ergonomic levers and fin cooled rotors to withstand overheating on the steepest alpine descents.

It's worth noting that the Specialized Roubaix Expert Ultegra Di2 conforms to the current pleasing trend of coming equipped with a complete Shimano groupset including cranks, brakes, cassette and chain - components that manufacturers tended to substitute with sub-Shimano parts in previous years to save costs. We can assure you that full Shimano Ultegra is noticeably smoother than any diluted version.

Here's how Specialized describe the Roubaix Expert Ultegra DI2 2018

Sorry rough roads, up until now you've challenged only the bravest of riders to travel over you, but with the Roubaix Expert with Shimano Ultegra Di2 that's equipped with our Future Shock technology, the "road less travelled" is now the "fun way home."

The super-light frame has been constructed from our FACT 10r carbon fibre. Its stiffness levels are also off the charts, and compared to the SL4 iteration of yesteryear, you'll experience a whole new, faster, and more efficient geometry. Through some engineering sorcery, however, we've managed to keep the same fit, feel, and position that we've all come to love from the SL4, and kept it consistent throughout the size-range due to our Rider-First Engineered™ construction.

Of course, you're probably thinking, ""get on to the suspension thing up front."" We call it Future Shock, and essentially, it's a piston in the head tube with 20mm of travel. We developed this technology in partnership with McLaren Applied Technologies, and the result of this are a host of drastic performance improvements, namely in the vertical compliance department. Without giving a physics lecture, we found that focusing on vertical compliance, instead of fork splay, meant that we could improve smoothness, speed, and comfort in one fell swoop. And of all the bikes that we've tested with our Rolling Efficiency Model, the new Roubaix outperforms anything on the market.

This Roubaix Expert comes equipped Shimano's latest Ultegra 8050 Di2 shifting, hydraulic 8070 disc brakes, and lightweight, alloy Roval SLX 24 disc wheels that are laced to DT Swiss 350 hubs.

  • Featuring our Rider-First Engineered™ design that ensures every frame size has the same legendary responsiveness and smooth ride quality that you'd expect from a Roubaix. The FACT 10r frameset holds its own with our high-end carbon offerings, with the ideal blend of light overall weight and targeted stiffness, while the all-new Future Shock "suspension" system at the cockpit delivers a revolutionary degree of comfort and control.
  • A Roubaix Disc fork is built from our FACT carbon fibre for supreme stiffness, strength, and reactivity, while a thru-axle design only stands to bolster all of the above.
  • The Roval SLX 24 Disc wheelset features a sub-1600-gram weight, a 20-millimeter internal width, and an alloy construction that makes it a solid performer for any 'cross event.

Which rear mech is on the back - the GS or SS. I would prefer either a 11/32 or preferably an 11/34 casette.
