Product Details

Specialized Diverge E5 Elite 2019 Gravel Road Bike

The Diverge is a go-anywhere road bike further upgraded with even smoother shifting Shimano Tiagra 2x10 STI gearing.

Same as Specialized Diverge E5

This is Specialized's do it all road bike with an E5 alloy frame, more tyre clearance, full mudguard compatibility, 12mm thru axles and a threaded BB.

  • E5 is a unique-to-Specialized alloy of aluminium, silicon, copper, manganese, magnesium and zinc. E5 is more formable than conventional 6061 aluminium. This enables Specialized to specify every inch of tube so the frame is as light as possible where it can be and strong as possible where needs be. It truly is an elite alloy, Tour tested in France.
  • Just as important, Specialized has introduced a new frame design for 2018 they describe as Open Road Geometry whihc they have continued for 2019.
  • With its 72 degree head tube and 73.5 degree seat tube angles (size 54cm), its low bottom bracket, its short chainstays, its skinny, shock-absorbing drop seatstays and its short wheelbase, every 2018 Diverge frame combines the nippy, responsive steering of an authentic road bike with the confidence-inspiring sure-footed comfort of the best touring bikes
  • The carbon fork perfectly matches the frame by offering that perfect blend of light weight, shock absorption and predictable point-and-shoot steering
  • 12mm through-axles beef up the crucial wheel to frame / fork interface, whilst being as convenient and easy to use as traditional QR quick releases
  • Tektro cable operated disc brakes are proven, low-maintenance performers
  • The Diverge frame features new brake caliper flat mounts for a neater look, more in keeping with a road bike's aesthetics
  • Specialized Espoir Sport 700x30 tyres offer further proof that fatter tyres on road bikes don't just improve comfort, they can also be faster. More on this.
  • The Diverge is built with clearance for full mudguards
  • The Specialized Body Geometry Toupé Sport is one of our best proven saddles - more

Here's how Specialized describe the Diverge E5 Elite

Made for exploring new roads, commuting to class, and everything in between, the Diverge E5 Elite redefines how many functions one bike can fulfill.

The Diverge is more capable than ever. And with the constant goal to best meet your needs, we took your number one request into account—tyre clearance. The new frame will comfortably fit up to 700x38mm tyres with plenty of room for mud, too. Along with tyre clearance, weight was a large factor in the development, and taking some design cues from the development of the Roubaix, we developed an E5 Premium aluminium frame that’s plenty light, certainly stiff for hard efforts, and undeniable tough.

Next up, we moved away from a traditional ‘cross geometry, instead opting for something that hasn’t been seen before—our Open Road Geometry. You can think of it as a road version of modern trail bike geometry. It provides playful handling and predictable steering for endless dirt skids and mid-corner drifts. The geo features a bottom bracket that's over a half-centimetre lower than the previous Diverge, a slacked-out head tube angle, short chainstays, and a short wheelbase. These changes make for a bike that's not only fun in the dirt, but also performs well on the road.

Adding to its multifaceted talents, we topped it off with three water bottle mounts, plus mounts for racks and fenders. For the spec, we wanted to make sure that it shifted crisply and braked smoothly for a long time to come, so you'll find a reliable Shimano Tiagra groupset, hassle-free mechanical disc brakes, and an Axis Sport Disc wheelset that's been cased in our Espoir Sport Reflect tyres.

  • Our Premium E5 aluminium frameset features our comfortable and confident Open Road Geometry, making it the ultimate tool for your next adventure.
  • The lightweight FACT carbon fork is plenty stiff, aiding in handling and a light overall weight.
  • Shimano Tiagra is in charge of shifting, and does so crisply and reliably.
