Specialized Crosstrail Hydraulic Disc 2018

Specialized Crosstrail is the first name in versatile commuter hybrid bikes with suspension forks and hydraulic disc brakes to make it capable on light trails.

Why you should consider a bike with hydraulic disc brakes.

Specialized Crosstrail Overview
When Specialized introduced their unisex Crosstrail and women's Ariel ranges of trail capable commuter bikes in 2008 they created a genre - much as Specialized have done throughout their history (think Specialized Stumpjumper mountain bike or Roubaix sportive road bike).

As is the Specialized way, the Crosstrail concept has evolved and been refined, so their 2018 models are better looking and ride more smoothly than ever. For all these improvements, every Crosstrail bike lives up to Specialized's original ambition - that is to create a trail-capable commuter bike.

To this end, every Crosstrail rolls on 700x38 tyres which are faster than off road knobblies and more forgiving than 23-28mm-wide road bike tyres. Pannier rack and mudguard compatibility make a Crosstrail perfect for commuting, touring and general riding. The suspension fork offers shock absorption that helps make the bike suitable for light trail riding. Brain technology means the fork's 55mm travel is only active when required and is automatically locked out for rigid fork-like efficiency on smooth roads.

To illustrate the extra care Specialized take, they get the smallest details just right. For instance, the wheel rims are double wall and the rear freehub takes a cassette rather than a freewheel to help ensure greater strength and longevity. Even the chain is specially selected for its anti-corrosion coating to help ensure minimum maintenance and maximum service life for its wide-range Shimano 3x8 drivetrain.

It's little wonder that Crosstrail bikes have been among our most consistent best sellers since their introduction. If you are looking for one bike that works well over the widest spectrum of conditions, a rugged commuter/hybrid such as a Specialized Crosstrail is well worth considering.

Here's how Specialized describe their Crosstrail Hydraulic Disc
When you're at the gym you use equipment that works for you. Likewise you need a bike that performs exactly how you need it to be - versatile comfortable and efficient. You need a bike like our Crosstrail with Hydraulic Disc Brakes.

It features a light and tough A1 Premium Aluminium frame that's been designed with our Fitness Geometry so it will fit and feel like a dream right out of the box. Not stopping there we also included a custom suspension fork with our Brain technology that stays locked out on smooth surfaces but successfully soaks up road imperfections when the going gets rough.

Add in a selection of strong no-fuss components and reliable hydraulic disc brakes and you get a bike that's ready to roll wherever you choose to take it.

Working with our Body Geometry team, we designed a frame that strikes the optimal balance between comfort and efficiency. The A1 SL Premium aluminium construction pairs weight savings with rugged durability, while the rack, fender, and disc mounts give you an incredibly versatile package.

An SR Suntour NEX fork w/ Fitness Brain technology features 55mm of coil-sprung travel that takes the sting out of bumpy terrain, while our Fitness Brain technology promotes more climbing and pedalling efficiency.

Braking duties are handled by Promax hydraulic disc brakes to ensure effective, consistent, and reliable power through any kind of terrain or condition.
