Product Description

Specialized Crosstrail Elite 2018

This Crosstrail's microSHIFT 2x10/Shimano Deore drivetrain and TRP Flow Set hydraulic disc brakes help create a smoother-operating trail-capable commuter bike.

Upgrades from Specialized Crosstrail Hydraulic Disc

  • The microSHIFT / Shimano Deore Shadow 2x10 drivetrain offers slicker gear shifts in a simpler double chainset format
  • TRP (Tektro Racing Products) Flow Set Control
  • Double butted alloy handlebars on integrated 3D forged alloy Flow Set stem - this is one impressive cockpit

Specialized Crosstrail Overview
Specialized Crosstrail is the first name in versatile commuter hybrid bikes with suspension forks and hydraulic disc brakes to make it equally capable on light trails, Sustrans tracks and the like.

As is the Specialized way, the Crosstrail concept has evolved and been refined, so their 2018 models are better designed than ever with features borrowed from their finest four-figure road and and mountain bikes such as:

  • Its confidence-inspiring perfectly aligned Specialized A1 premium aluminum frame will be among the lightest at its price point
  • Internal gear cable routing makes for a cleaner finish that accentuates the frame's gorgeous paint job
  • The flat-disc brake mounts are much neater and lighter weight than first-generation disc brake frame bosses

For all these improvements, every Crosstrail lives up to Specialized's original ambition - that is to create a trail-capable commuter bike.

  • To this end, every Crosstrail rolls on 700x38 tyres from one of the world's most respected bicycle tyre companies - Specialized
  • These tyres are faster than off-road knobblies and more forgiving than 23-28mm-wide road bike tyres
  • Pannier rack and mudguard compatibility make a Crosstrail perfect for commuting, touring and general riding
  • The suspension fork offers shock absorption that helps make the bike suitable for light trail riding
  • Brain technology means the fork's 60mm travel is only active when required and is automatically locked out for rigid fork-like efficiency on smooth roads
  • TRP (Tektro Racing Products) brakes deliver confidence-inspiring control - even in the most sketchy riding conditions. Why you should consider a bike with hydraulic disc brakes.

To illustrate the extra care Specialized take, they get the smallest details just right. For instance, the wheel rims are double wall and the rear freehub takes a cassette rather than a freewheel to help ensure greater strength and longevity. Even the chain is specially selected for its anti-corrosion coating to help ensure minimum maintenance and maximum service life for its wide-range Shimano 2x10 drivetrain.

It's little wonder that Crosstrail bikes have been among our most consistent best sellers since their introduction. If you are looking for one bike that works well over the widest spectrum of conditions, a rugged commuter/hybrid such as a Specialized Crosstrail is well worth considering.

Here's how Specialized describe their Crosstrail Elite

The most important part of fitness is that you're following a path, not what kind of terrain lies beneath your tires. So to make sure that you can mix things up between the road and dirt, our CrossTrail Elite comes equipped with a suspension fork that pairs a remote lockout feature with our Fitness Brain technology for fast, efficient, and intuitive use over any surface.

Add in a mix of performance driven components from the likes of Shimano, powerful TRP hydraulic disc brakes, and rack/fender mounts, and you'll be riding with confidence in no time—no matter where you choose to ride.

  • Working with our Body Geometry team, we designed a frame that strikes the optimal balance between comfort and efficiency.
  • The A1 SL Premium aluminium construction pairs weight savings with rugged durability, while the rack, fender, and disc mounts give you an incredibly versatile package.
  • An SR Suntour NCX fork w/ Fitness BRAIN technology features 60mm of coil-sprung travel that takes the sting out of bumpy terrain, while an integrated remote lockout is coupled with our Fitness BRAIN technology to promote more climbing and pedalling efficiency.
  • Braking duties are handled by TRP Flow Set Control hydraulic Disc Brakes to ensure effective, consistent, and reliable power through any kind of terrain or condition.
