Revolution Scandium XT/XTR Comp Build '06

Revolution Scandium XT/XTR Comp Build '06

So wicked, we could have called it the Revolution Scandalous

Product Description

Scandium SC7 frameset – at 1.25kg / 2.75lb this is our lightest weight MTB hardtail frame ever. Laterally rigid, it climbs like a mountain goat yet it’s one of the most comfortably compliant hardtails you will ever ride.

Naturally we wanted a fork that complemented the scandium frame, so we selected one of the lightest weight performance forks our there - the 1.6kg Manitou SkarebComp 80mm-travel fork which is super smooth on the bumpy stuff yet easy to lock out for bob-free sprints and climbs.

  • Full Shimano XT groupset (embellished by an XTR rear mech) – i.e. not just the Rapidfire shifters and gears are XT but the chainset, the bottom bracket, the cassette, the chain, the hubs and the hydraulic disc brakes are also prime Shimano. How rare is that?
  • Carbon kit: Velo Carbon Slice saddle (carbon-base, ti rails, 186g) and Guizzo carbon bars and seatpin. Who are Guizzo? The high-end arm of Kalloy - probably the most respected seatpin / bar manufacturer on the planet – and another Edinburgh Bicycle discovery. Guizzo also make the extremely classy cold-forged CNC-machined alloy stem.
  • Confidence-inspiring disc brake-specific wheel set. The perfectly welded, stainless steel eyeleted rims are by Swiss wheelsmiths, DT, as are the double butted stainless steel spokes. The hubs are, of course, Shimano XT.
  • Tioga Factory Extreme XC 26x2.1 tyres – lightweight off-road rubber, proven in extreme UK conditions.
  • Such a sussed spec, and to ensure everything works sublimely, the bike is carefully assembled from the frame up in Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op’s own workshop. The result: a great looking machine (very stealth) that performs like and weighs as little (11.2kg / 24.7lb) as a 2 grand hardtail. In fact this bike is so wicked, you will be surprised Edinburgh Bicycle didn’t call it, the Revolution Scandalous.
