It’s a lovely reminder that you can keep cycling far longer than you might think. If you or a loved one has lost their confidence, fitness or anything else that makes riding seem impossible,  come in and see us <\/a> ! WHAT TO THINK ABOUT <\/h2>\n

Generally, a lightweight bike will make it easier to ride  and <\/em>  easier to manoeuvre when you’re getting it in and out of the shed or garage. You might also want to opt for a bike with a little more suspension and\/or a more upright riding position.  Nothing really beats coming into one of shops to try a few <\/strong>  to see what’s most comfortable though as everybody is different. <\/p>\n

Two key options you might also want to consider are: <\/p>\n

A step-through bike has a lower top tube. Traditionally thought of as women’s bikes because they’re easier to ride while wearing a skirt, nowadays this frame style is common for both men and women. The lower top tube means it’s easier to mount and dismount; particularly useful if you’ve got joint problems or stiffness. <\/p>\n

You still need to pedal, so it’s not comparable with a scooter or car, but you can choose the level of boost you give yourself. If your fitness isn’t quite what it was, add a little more power and you won’t need to pedal too hard to get up the hill. Electric bikes are also equally good if you are capable of cycling hard but you’re cycling somewhere that you don’t want to arrive sweaty to! Many electric bikes come with a step-through frame as well, giving you the best of both worlds. <\/p>\n
