One ride and you\u2019ll understand why Whyte are trumpeting the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edinburghbicycle.com\/bikes\/road-bikes\/whyte-glencoe-2023-gravel-bike-in-matt-mossgoldheather__3312\">Glencoe<\/a> as\u00a0 <strong><em> \u2018the best all round road bike we have ever made\u2019 <\/em> . <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s some claim when you consider that another Whyte bike,\u00a0the Wessex, has already picked up\u00a0 <strong><em> two <\/em><\/strong> \u00a0road.cc awards in 2017: One for Endurance\/Sportive Road Bike of the Year and the second for Commuter Bike of the Year. Mountain bikes Whyte make are also exceptional so are worth checking out.<\/p>\n<h2>ROAD PLUS ADVENTURE<\/h2>\n<p>To create the Glencoe, Whyte have taken some of the best elements of the Wessex \u2013 the 1\u00d711 drivetrain, the thru-axle wheels and the wide road bike tyres \u2013 then built on that design to create a style of bike, which they describe as\u00a0 <em> Road Plus Adventure. <\/em><\/p>\n<h2>650B X 47 TYRES<\/h2>\n<p>This Road Plus Adventure bike is defined by its plus-sized WTB 650b x 47 tyres (cf the Wessex\u2019s 30mm wide treads).<\/p>\n<p>Being 47mm wide, you can be confident that the Glencoe\u2019s tyres will roll over kerbs, potholes and cobbles with hardly a care.<\/p>\n<p>But here\u2019s the clever bit \u2013 the tyre\u2019s rolling circumference (where it makes contact with the road) is no greater than an equivalent 700\u00d728 tyre.
