Whyte 603 Mountain Bike
£599

Whyte 603 | best mountain bikes | mountain bike reviews

Whyte 603

Tell me more…
The Whyte 603 is a budget off-road bike which punches well above its weight in the performance category. The 120mm front suspension fork combined with the ‘Enduro-style’ handlebars and stem make light work of any terrain you tackle and promise to leave a BIG smile on your face.

Why is this cool?
Trail geometry refers to the frame’s steep seat tube, which helps you power up hill, and the relaxed head angle and long wheelbase, which delivers high-speed stability and makes it a more capable descender.

What gives this bike the edge?
Even Whyte’s entry-level mountain bike boasts fully enclosed cables and extra tyre clearance to help ensure it keeps moving in conditions that might stall a bike that wasn’t UK weatherproof.

What do other mountain bike reviews say?
“With carefully chosen, branded parts and a high quality, latest generation frame it has all the hallmarks of Whyte’s award winning DNA.” – Whyte (ok, so it’s not technically a review if it’s by the manufacturer but it summarises the 603 perfectly).

Whyte 604 Compact Mountain Bike
£599

Whyte 604 | best mountain bikes | mountain bike reviews

Whyte 604

Tell me more…
The Whyte 604 is identical to the Whyte 603 in its UK trail centre-optimised specification, but with a more compact frame. Perfect for women, smaller adults or taller teens.

Why is this cool?
This more compact frame offers more top tube clearance and an easier reach to the handlebars.

What gives this bike the edge?
Whyte don’t even call the 604 a “women’s bike”. They call it the 604 Compact to emphasise its undiluted spec and its absence of pink floweriness (which makes it an ideal bike for smaller guys too).

What do other mountain bike reviews say?
BikeRadar gave this bike a solid 4/5 in 2016, saying: “A budget trail bike with great geometry that feels great to ride. Fun, confidence inspiring, playful.”

Whyte 805 Mountain Bike
£999

Whyte 805 | best mountain bikes | mountain bike reviews

Whyte 805

Tell me more…
Whyte’s 805 is a best seller, and there are a number of very good reasons for that! The 805 is designed to be a tad longer and lower than standard, which when combined with Whyte’s specially selected bars and stem, make for a surefooted but lively ride. Add into the mix the 805’s internal cable routing and this best seller won’t only overcome every terrain the British countryside has to offer, but all of the British weather too!

Why is this cool?
You get a more comfortable frame, courtesy of its slimmer and more vertically compliant seat stay. Internally routing the rear brake hose and gear cables creates a cleaner, uncluttered look.

What gives this bike the edge?
RockShox Recon forks’ superior damping and Maxxis TR tubeless ready tyres helps eke out the full potential of Whyte’s frame design genius.

What do other mountain bike reviews say?
Summed up in a sentence by Cyclist.co.uk: “Another brilliant bike from Whyte (do they make any other type?) This aluminium hardtail is an upgrade of the also ace Whyte 801.”

Whyte 629 Mountain Bike
£1,299

Whyte 629 review | best mountain bikes | mountain bike reviews

Whyte 629

Tell me more…
What do you get if you take a first class 29’er and make it better? The Whyte 629! Driven by a Sram 1×11 groupset and guided by air-sprung Rockshox forks, this bike is joy to pilot across the countryside. A light and agile frame, with ample tire clearance for the mucky British weather makes the 629 a go to bike for a blast around the trails.

Why is this cool?
The Rockshox fork has a motion control damper offering super reliable 120mm-travel suspension. Meanwhile, the Get A Grip seat post clamp system allows for quick adjustment, no matter how cold your hands are.

What gives this bike the edge?
The Maxxis tyres and the WTB STp i25 29” rims are tubeless ready which means if you want to upgrade in the future, you can!

What do other mountain bike reviews say?
“The Whyte 629 looks to be a great little trail 29er hardtail!…this bike should be a more than capable descender and climber” – off.road.cc

Whyte 901 Mountain Bike
£1,399

Whyte 901 review | best mountain bikes | mountain bike reviews

Whyte 901

Tell me more…
It’s long, low and alive! The Whyte 901 will devour whatever the trail has to throw at it, and then ask for more! Chunky 2.8 inch tyres and powerful 4-pot brakes mean that even when you’re on the ragged edge the 901 will keep you ‘rubber side down’ and in control at all times.

Why is this cool?
These tyres now mirror the 905’s award winning performance while the hydraulic disc brakes will last longer and will maintain optimal distance from the brake rotor so performance is never compromised.

What gives this bike the edge?
The 37mm offset forks – this “short offset” philosophy was also applied to the high successful S-150. Shorter offsets give some of the benefits of a slacker head angle (mainly greater stability from an increased trail) but shortens (rather than lengthens) the wheelbase.

What do other mountain bike reviews say?
Mountain Bike Rider rates this bike really highly! With an impressive 10/10, they said: “It’s the trail hardtail against which all others are measured.”

Whyte 905 Mountain Bike
£1,650

Whyte 905 review | best mountain bikes | mountain bike reviews

Whyte 905

Tell me more…
When the trail demands more, Whyte’s 905 steps up to mark! The 905 has everything you’d expect from a top of the line hardtail, and then some more! Whyte have specially modified the offset on the Rockshox forks and then wrapped their wheels with some of the finest 2.8inch rubber meaning that nothing else handles the trail quite as well as the 905. Amazing machine – must be tried to be believed!

Why is this cool?
The offset forks increases the trail for improved steering stability and  moves the mass of the fork and wheel closers to the steering axis resulting in a more neutral steering feel.

What gives this bike the edge?
The 905 brings ideas directly from the Whyte Enduro team including thicker V-Grips and the use of 170mm cranks, which bring the rider 5mm closer to the ground without compromising pedal clearance.

What do other mountain bike reviews say?
“Whyte claims that this is the best 905 it’s ever built and we wholeheartedly agree. It also the best hardtail we’ve ridden period and easily deserving of a perfect 10 rating”. – MBR

Whyte 909 review | best mountain bikes | mountain bike reviews

Whyte 909

Tell me more…
Five stars! Ten out of Ten! One hundred percent! Does it get any better than the 909? At this stunning price, probably not! A Sram Eagle groupset. Fox suspension, a rear Hope Pro 4 hub and all for an amazing price! This is a serious trail bike for some serious cycling. Caution advised, however- the 909 is highly addictive!!

Why is this cool?
The 909 brings ideas directly from the Whyte Enduro team! This includes thicker V-Grips and the use of 170mm cranks which brings you 5mm closer to the ground without compromising pedal clearance.

The rear wheel is built on, perhaps the most reliable, best proven, nicest sounding MTB hub ever made – the machined-in-Lancashire Hope PRO4 with stainless steel bearings, an XD Driver and a 12mm x 148mm Boost through axle.

What do other mountain bike reviews say?

Whyte T-130 S

Tell me more…
T-130 S means this bike boasts the 130mm-travel version of Whyte’s multiple award-winning Quad-Link suspension system.

This bike offers what many consider to be the best price/performance balance in the T-130 range. Rockshox Revelations in the front and a Deluxe RT in the rear provide smooth and responsive suspension, the 1×12 Sram GX Eagle groupset gives you a massive 500% gear range for the steepest climbs and the fasted descents, while the Sram Guide T 4-pot brakes promise to stop you on a penny! The T-130 S is the full package!

Why is this cool?
