We’re putting on a Specialized e-mountain bike demo day in the Pentland Hills, near Edinburgh, on Saturday 27 May for £15.
If you’re considering buying an electric mountain bike, this is a perfect opportunity to experience the fantastic fun you can have on an e-bike before you commit.
The full address is here, but you need to book ahead of time: Harlaw reservoir on Saturday 27 May 2017. We’ll be next to the visitor centre, Pentland Hills Regional Park, Edinburgh EH14 7AS. There is car parking on site.
Enough talk! Take me to the booking form.
Which electric mountain bikes
On the day, we’ll be lending out some of the most evolved e- mountain bikes available today – our Specialized Turbo Levos. Read why Levos are lovely.
Our mini fleet of Specialized Turbo Levo bikes come in all shapes – hardtail, full suspension, unisex, women’s – and sizes from small to extra large.
Each try-out session will be led by an experienced Bike Co-op mountain biker / shop worker along with Specialized UK’s e-mountain bike expert Mark Lee, who will be on hand to answer all your e-bike queries.
Please note – You will be riding on paths, best described as Blue Grade standard, so you’d be expected to have had some experience riding mountain bikes off road.
The following demo bikes will be available on the demo day (but must be pre-booked in advance)
Specialized Turbo Levo HT Comp 6Fattie Available in Medium, Large and XL
Specialized Turbo Levo FSR Comp 6Fattie Available in, Small, Medium, Large and XL
Specialized Women’s Turbo Levo FSR Comp 6Fattie Available in Small and Medium
Specialized Turbo Levo Bike Sizing Guide (applies to both unisex and women’s bikes)

What to expect
We’ll be organising the demo day into five hour-long sessions.
Each one-hour session will include setting the bike up for you, a chat about how the bikes work and a 30-40 minute ride followed by a Q&A session – another opportunity to pick Specialized’s Mark Lee’s brain.
There will be space for 6 riders per session. The session times will be as follows.
Session one: 10am – 11am
Session two: 11.30am – 12.30pm
Session three: 1pm – 2pm
Session four: 2.30pm – 3.30pm
Session five: 4pm – 5pm.
Pre-booking required – book now
If you would like to book onto a one-hour session please call us on 0131 331 5010 or fill out the form below.
Price – only £15 per one-hour session
£5 will go back to the Pentland Hills Regional Park – we are very lucky to have this beautiful natural resource on our doorstep and money raised will go towards environmental improvements within the Regional Park.
£10 will go back to you in the form of an Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op gift voucher, which you will receive when you turn up on the day.
We decided to make this small charge because we think there will be a lot of interest in this event and we want to ensure that as many interested people as possible get a chance to try out these amazing e-mountain bikes. (Experience has shown that when we put on events for free, only half the people who register turn up, whereas when people pay in advance we have a full house.)
We’ll need to speak to you on the phone in order to take payment, which is non-refundable, so please double-check your diary to make sure you’re free! Please don’t send us any payment details by email.
What you need to bring
It is essential you bring the following three items to the demo day – no id, no ride.
• a form of photo ID (drivers license or passport)
• a debit/credit card in the same name as your photographic ID
• a helmet
You’ll also be asked to sign a disclaimer.
What to bring with you
We can provide a set of basic flat pedals. If you have specific pedal preferences, such as SPDs, bring them along and we’ll fit them to your test bike.
Otherwise, come along in the cycling (or everyday) clothing you feel comfortable riding in, appropriate to the weather on the day.
