Deputy Branch Manager – Leeds

Full time (37.5 hours) permanent position

An exciting opportunity has come up in our Leeds branch for the role of a Deputy Branch Manager and we’re inviting candidates to apply.

Based at our store In Chapel Allerton, Leeds, you’ll report directly to the Leeds Branch Manager and will work closely with him in all aspects of the running of the branch.

General Job Description

To support the Leeds Branch Manager in the successful running of the branch.

To help ensure that the department is completely focused on the highest quality of customer service and making sales. The post is offered on a permanent full time basis (37.5hrs/week).

 Responsibilities

The Leeds Deputy Manager’s base will be at our shop in Chapel Allerton, however occasional travel around the Edinburgh Bicycle group, and elsewhere, may be necessary for training and meeting purposes.  The role of the Deputy Branch Manager for Leeds is central to the smooth running of the store and the key responsibilities will be to:

  1. Support the Branch Manager in all tasks and deputise in their absence.
  2. Ensure the highest levels of customer service.
  3. Manage individual and groups of staff.
  4. Assist in carrying out necessary disciplinary procedures.
  5. Ensure continued staff presence on the sales floors.
  6. Assist with staff training.
  7. Assist with display & merchandising.
  8. Deal with customer problems and complaints when they arise.
  9. Operate specific and regular administrative systems.
  10. Have the drive and motivation to identify, act on and deliver sales opportunities.

Person Specification

It is essential that you are able to demonstrate strong leadership, organisational and motivational skills, as well as a highly developed sense of customer service.  Ideally, you will also have experience in retail sales and management, however training will be given to the right candidate.

It is also essential that you are an effective time-manager and a pragmatic problem solver.   You must also be able to place great emphasis on service quality, and productivity, as well as paying good attention to detail.

Terms and conditions

The Leeds Deputy Branch Manager is expected to work a 37.5-hour week for a salary starting at £17,500 per annum.

The shop is open 7 days a week, with weekends being particularly important trading days.  It is expected that the Deputy Branch Manager will work a considerable number of weekend days.

The post carries a paid holiday entitlement of 240 hours (32 working days) per year. There is no entitlement to payment for any public holidays as these are included in the above allocation.

Based at our store in Byker, you’ll report directly to the Newcastle Branch Manager and will work closely with him, and the Deputy Manager, in all aspects of the running of the branch and most importantly ensuring sales targets are met.

Part Time Management Accountant (Maternity Cover)

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Head Office for the role of part time Management Accountant. This role is being offered on a temporary part time basis to cover a period of maternity leave and is not expected to exceed a period of 6 months.

The Role

As Management Accountant you will be working within a small but business critical team. You will report to, and work closely with, the Managing Director of the business.

You’ll be based at our warehouse premises near Dalmeny/South Queensferry on the outskirts of Edinburgh (Unit 5A Royal Elizabeth Yard, EH29 9EN).

The core responsibilities associated with the role but not wholly exclusive are:

  • Compiling management accounts information
  • Preparing financial reports, budgets, commentaries and financial statements
  • Controlling and forecasting income and expenditure
  • Managing financial systems
  • Providing support for payroll and company share scheme
  • Preparing audit file and liaising with the auditor
  • Assisting the Managing Director to deliver an effective one year plan

 Terms and conditions

The post commands a competitive salary based upon experience. The Management Accountant will be expected to work a 22.5-hour week. Our preferred work pattern for this role is Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9.30am – 6pm though we do offer some flexibility within this. The standard working day is 8.5 hours with an unpaid lunch break of 1 hour.

Experience and Knowledge

Demonstrable experience of producing and presenting monthly or quarterly management accounts is essential. You must have good business understanding, be self-starting and willing to take on responsibility.

A full professional qualification is not essential where there is a high level of experience.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and bike-passionate person to lead our small team of mechanics in Aberdeen.  Leadership experience preferred but this could be an opportunity for an experienced mechanic looking for progression.

You must have bicycle mechanic experience (ideally everything from road to electric to bmx) and you should be used to working to tight deadlines in a bike shop.

A Cytech (or equivalent) qualification would help but is not essential.

Most importantly, you’ll be confident of your ability to show first-class mechanical skill and accuracy in a busy work environment.
