Great North Bike Ride 2018

Great North Bike Ride

This year’s Great North Bike Ride took place on 26 August from Seahouses to Tynemouth. It’s been going since 2000 and supports the Chris Lucas Trust, a charity set up in memory of Chris Lucas, a teenager from Wallsend who died from rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer. All monies raised goes towards researching this cancer.

We’ve had some pretty good weather this summer but alas, the sun didn’t want to come out on Sunday. That didn’t put off the 1,300 riders that donned their cycling gear and took part in this 60 mile event.

It’s a great event that we’re proud to be part of by providing mechanical support.

So what did we have to fix?

– 2 broken seat collars (and that was before we left the carpark!)

– 7 punctures and 5 tyre replacements

– 1 broken and jammed chain which Keith managed to fix to get the rider on his way

Not bad for 1,300 riders! We put that down to the good quality bikes you’ve been buying (from us, obviously!) and the regular maintenance you’ve been doing to keep them top notch. So from us, thank you!
