Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op Sheffield Brompton Ride 2014 – Saturday 26 April

Get Cycling In Sheffield

Last April, Alan from our Sheffield shop, his wife Janet, Mick from the Sheffield Friday Night and LBC (London Brompton Club) had the brilliant idea of organising an informal ride round Sheffield with one stipulation. You had to do it on a Brompton.

The ride was hailed such a success by the 35 riders who participated, we’re planning a similar ride this year on Saturday 26 April.

This ride is open to everyone – as long as you do it on a Brompton. (Riders under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.)

There will be no charge for participating in this ride and no need to register. Simply turn up at Sheffield Railway Station between 10:30 and 11:00am.

If you are coming by car, you’re welcome to leave it at our Sheffield shop’s car park and ride with our guys from the shop to the station, leaving at 10:15am.

The morning ride will be from the station up to a Parkwood Springs – a fine viewpoint over Sheffield – and return via a section of the Tour de France Stage 2 route to the Don Valley and cycle along the Don to the Fat Cat for lunch.

The afternoon ride will be from the Fat Cat through town up the Porter Valley, to the edge of the Peak District for a cafe stop and then back down through the western suburbs into town and finish at the Station.

The route will cover 5 miles in the morning and 10 miles in the afternoon, so it should be suitable for every level of Brompton rider. Everyone who participates will be rewarded with a free Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op goodie bag.

I would like to thank all the people that helped me with the Sheffield Ride this year. All the staff and freinds at the Bike Co-op that gave hours of their own time to make this event happen. The list is long: Ged Holmyard, Roz Hart, Patrick, Ross from Brompton Bikes, Mick Nott from Sheffield Friday night ride, Paul Truinn, Neil Coffey, David Parkinson, Ian Joustra, Janet Knott, Tom Everitt, and Mr Bee Andrew Barnett to his friends and family. Also a big thanks To Mr O from the London Brompton Club for doing a great job with the Blog and video and all of you that came along, it all made my job easy. Thanks again guys. See you all next year.
