Starting from Duthie park in Aberdeen the Deeside way can be followed all the way out to Ballater, Largly offroad on the old railway line it is reasonably flat between Aberdeen and Banchory and offers places to stop for a coffee & cake at Peterculter, Drumoak, Banchory and beyond depending on how adventurous you are feeling.

The Formartine and Buchan Way is another rout following an old railway line starting from Dyce can be followed all the way to Peterhead or Fraserburgh with plenty of small towns on the way offering refreshments.
