Electric Bike Sizing Guide

Welcome to the electric bike size guide which is designed to give you a guide into what of e bike size would be best for you. There are a number of factors that could affect which frame size could be best for you such as rider height (the obvious one), body proportions and personal preference. If you have any questions or if you would like to visit one of our stores in Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds or Aberdeen, we will be very happy to help find the right frame size for you.

E bike sizes can range from the classic “small, medium, large” frame size, inches or, Specialized use their “S” frame size system which runs from S1 to S6. All of our guides below rely on rider height so its best to take measurements by putting your back to a wall with bare feet and use a hard book to mark the level on the wall (easy if a friend helps you measure).

On this page, you will find size guides for men’s electric bikes, women’s e bikes and unisex e bikes. Click below to jump to each.

Please bear in mind that your height is only a rough guide to the correct frame size, so if you have any doubts then don’t hesitate to contact one of our friendly team.

Men’s Electric Mountain Bike Sizing

Mountain biking is one of the styles of bicycle that relies on a degree of personal preference. Modern mountain bike frame geometry gives you the choice of going down a frame size if you would like a more manoeuvrable bike for technical trails or a larger frame size for more stability and straight line speed for more cross country riding. Which would be best for you would depend on which of these styles of MTB you do or will be doing. Electric MTB’s are available in a hardtail version and full-suspension and which you would choose would, again, depend on intended use and budget as the full-suspension option cost more than the hardtails.

Women’s Electric Commuter/Hybrid Bike Sizing

For bikes that are used for commuting or for leisure rides, on or off-road. Many of the electric bike manufacturers are leaning towards a more unisex approach as the majority of electric hybrid and commuter bikes have adjustable handlebars and wider saddles to suit women and men alike. To accommodate shorter riders, electric bikes are available in smaller frame sizes. Step-through frames are no longer thought of as a ladies bikes down to the fact that as many men now ride step throughs. For the more sporty electric hybrids, women could check out the “compact” versions if available as these will have adjusted geometry to take into account different body proportions.

As with the other electric bicycle styles, electric MTBs are more often than not opting for a unisex frame size. Wide handlebars are the norm now for most mountain bike but these can easily be shortened for shorter riders or for people who prefer narrower bars.
