When the sun goes down, the lights come out!
Fancy going out this evening? If you’re getting away from those bright city lights and into the country you’ll need some serious wattage of your own. Our Accessories Buy – James – is here to give you some top advice on lights.
“When riding off road at night, you may run a light on your bars, on your helmet or ideally both.
A bar light will have a wider beam pattern and generally a higher output/run time as the weight of a larger light/battery isn’t an issue on the bars. The easiest way to identify those is that they have multiple LEDs as opposed to one. So for example, the Cateye AMPP 1100 would be good but not the AMPP 800.
A helmet light ensures you always have light in the direction you are looking. These tend to be more single LED lights with a more focussed beam pattern which have lower outputs/runtimes as the weight of the light is an issue here.”
