Product Description

Giant TCR Advanced 0 2018

Giant's long proven classic carbon road bike with Shimano Ultegra Di2 gear shifting and Ultegra brakes.

Tubeless Tyres
Previously reserved for Giant's £2K-plus Pro models: for 2018, every Giant TCR Advanced model rolls on tubeless tyres for extra comfort and fewer punctures.

Shimano Ultegra Di2
Electronic shifting is now so established at the cutting edge of cycling - professional road racing - it's now as ubiquitous as clip-in pedals and Lycra.

If you're looking for the quickest, most accurate gear shifting system that's also the easiest to keep in perfect adjustment, electronic shifting is the way to go, and Shimano Ultegra Di2 is established as the most proven and most affordable set up.

Replacing the traditional mechanical cable with an electric cable eliminates poor shifting caused by kinks, corrosion and stretching, and guarantees effortless gear shifts - just as good hydraulic (cable-free) brakes have revolutionised mountain bike (and more recently road bike) braking performance.

Changing gear with fingertip-actuated Ultegra electronic shift buttons is easier, faster and more accurate than you ever experienced before with 'acoustic shifters'. As Shimano so eloquently put it, 'just a light touch, as soft as a mouse click, is sufficient for the front or rear derailleur to instantaneously select the correct gear'.

Giant Advanced Grade Composite Frame
Every Advanced composite frame is hand made by Giant at their own specialist carbon frame-building facility, using the following process.

  • Blending performance-grade Toray T700 carbon filament and resin with vibration-absorbing particles helps maximise frame strength and rider comfort.
  • Modified Monocoque Construction: the front triangle is assembled and moulded as one continuous piece.
  • The main frame is then joined to the rear chainstays and seatstays in a secondary process.
  • This process eliminates the outermost woven composite sheet to reduce weight without affecting ride quality, strength or stiffness.

Giant TCR Advanced Features

  • The Advanced Grade Composite frame delivers an optimal balance of speed, responsiveness and shock-damping comfort
  • The lightweight shock-absorbing Advanced Grade Composite carbon fork legs further contribute to the Giant Defy Advanced's responsive, fast-steering, exciting ride
  • The fork's Giant OverDrive Steerer tapers from one and an eighth inch external diameter at the top to inch and a quarter at the crown
  • As well as reinforcing the front end of the bike, oversizing the bottom of the steerer helps eliminate flex-induced brake juddering
  • Classic road bike geometry (73 degree head and seat tube angles) for speed and confidence-inspiring handling
  • The Variant Integrated carbon seatpost balances compliance and efficiency for a superior race-tuned ride quality
  • As well as building their own frames and forks, Giant extrude their own rims to build their own high quality sealed-bearing wheels
  • Giant then equip their wheels with their own front and rear specific 700x25 folding tubeless tyres with sealant
  • Controlling every aspect of designing, engineering and building the wheelset ensures every component works perfectly with its partner to create a more laterally stiff wheel which will take less effort to accelerate faster

Here's how Giant describe the TCR Advanced 0 2018

The most efficient race bikes have the perfect balance of light weight, stiffness and smooth compliance on the road. The TCR Advanced delivers on all three, making it a versatile performer for competitive road riders. The Advanced-grade composite frame manages to shave every gram possible, while retaining pedal-stomping stiffness. The OverDrive steerer system and MegaDrive downtube are engineered for the precise handling so you can rail corners at speed. And the Variant seatpost is engineered for an ideal blend of efficiency and compliance—so you stay fresh until the finish on those big days in the saddle. Tubeless Ready.
