Product Details

Frog 55

The Frog 55 is an easier rolling, lighter weight 20 inch wheel kids' bike.

Frog is an award-winning British company specializing in better quality kids' bikes.

Lighter Weight
Frog bikes, like better-quality adult bikes, are built with aluminium frames and (mostly) aluminium parts to keep the weight to a minimum. That way your child(ren) will experience maximum joy riding one of these bikes.

Faster wheels
Another original detail is that the Frog 55 comes with lightweight alloy quick release wheels fitted with good quality Kenda 20 x 1.5 inch hybrid tyres which will be easier rolling than the 20 x 2 inch knobbly mountain bike tyres you'll find on most of their competitors' bikes. Skinnier tyres make a Frog bike easier to accelerate and hence more fun to ride much of the time.

Colour choice
Technical attributes aside, this is no ugly frog. Frog bikes look good, so your child should be really proud to own one. To help ensure the bike delights, Frog bicycles are available in a choice of colours.

More size choice for just the right fit
An example of their original approach, rather than numbering their kids' bikes by wheel size, Frog size their bikes by inside leg measurement. Hence the Frog 55 is recommended for children with a minimum inside leg measurement of 55cm (22 inches). This corresponds with other manufacturers' 20 inch wheel kids' bikes, so the Frog 55 would make a great present for children from 6/7 year olds. It comes with a long aluminium seatpost with a quick release seat binder to make it easy to adjust the saddle as the child grows all the way up to 8, 9 or 10 years old.

Note that Frog also offer the slightly smaller (52cm stepover height) Frog 52 bike with 20 x.1.5-inch hybrid tyres for slightly shorter kids. Put it another way, if the Frog 55 is slightly to large for your young 'un, the Frog 52 should be perfect. If you want the bike to fit for as long as possible before it's outgrown, go for the Frog 55. Offering different sizing options - even when the bikes have the same wheel size - is a perfect illustration of the extra care taken by Frog to ensure their bikes fit better than their rivals' who offer their 20-inch wheel bikes in just one frame size. 'Frog Bicycles
We are a small British company dedicated to making cycling fun for children. We believe that the lighter the bike, the easier it is for children to learn to ride, and to enjoy it more as they progress. Many children's bikes on the market weigh nearly as much as the child! So we set about re-designing the kids' bike, sourcing a light but strong aluminium frame, and hand-picking components that offer a high performance without compromising the weight. The founders, Jerry and Shelley, are a couple who have 2 small children of their own – both keen cyclists. So they know something about what motivates children to get on their bikes! Since the first prototype arrived, the bikes have always been robustly tested by the children and all their friends.'
