Product Description

Cannondale Super 6 Evo Ultegra '16

A Cannondale SuperSix race-proven carbon frame with Shimano Ultegra group and Mavic Aksium wheels - this is a killer deal in road bikes for this kind of money.

SuperSix Evo is like Cannondale's full-on pro-peloton-proven SuperSix Hi-Mod, mildly tweaked to enhance its shock damping and reduce its price. Crucially, it retains the pure performance of a full carbon sub-kilo frame.

Cannondale Super Six Evo Frame

  • Cannondale's BallisTec Carbon sub-980g frame offers a perfect blend of stiffness, comfort, light weight and that 'feel' that distinguishes a bike of pure quality.
  • Speed Save Micro-Suspension - subtle flex zones built into the chainstays, seatstays and seat tube allow the rear wheel to track the ground, improving speed, handling and comfort.
  • Full BallisTec Carbon 315g Speed Save Fork with offset dropouts for tuned vertical compliance and razor sharp handling.
  • The Speed Save fork and stays work as a system to maximise comfort and performance.
  • Reduced Frontal Area - smaller diameter frame tubes means less frontal area and less drag than the oversized competition, without the added weight and harsh ride of aero frames.
  • The one and an eighth to one and a quarter inch tapered carbon steerer delivers strength, steering precision and helps eliminate front brake judder.

Here's what Cycling Plus had to say about this Cannondale Super Six Evo frame in March 2014:
'The rear end simply smooths out roads, thanks to the twisting and flattening chainstays and the slender, kinked seatstays. The slender-legged fork has much the same effect up front; this bike rolls like silk, floating across scarred, coarse tarmac with ease.

The SuperSix Evo flies up hills and races back down. Its measured smoothness makes it a climbers friend – even out-of-the-saddle stomps up steep inclines can’t faze this remarkable frame and, despite its slender proportions, we couldn’t sense any twist or give. On the downslopes, the bikes it turns in with perfect agility and it’s capable of holding the tightest, fastest cornering lines.

Smooth, stable, agile an outstandingly good all-round race bike.

And this is how Cannondale describe SuperSix
'You know your LT (lactate threshold), train like you’re being paid, and love to pin on a number. When you’re ready to go full gas, go EVO. The SuperSix EVO is the ultimate road-racing machine, the perfect balance of light weight, stiffness, strength, handling, aerodynamics and compliance—everything you need to power to the podium. So give yourself an advantage, because you’ll never know what you can really do, until you do it on an EVO.'

Mavic Aksium Elite Wheels
The Benefits of Pre-Built 'System Wheels' such as the Mavic Aksium Elite

Whether you are looking for more immediate flex-free power transfer, bomb-proof quality or super light weight, fitting a set of system wheels is one of the most profound improvements you can make to a bicycle.

For over a hundred years, the ability to build a bicycle wheel tight, strong and true has been rightly regarded as one of the pinnacles of the bicycle mechanic's craft. If you want your choice of rim, hub and spokes hand built for you into a wheel you can rely upon for years and years, our Service Centres(we have one in every branch) will be delighted to oblige.

Since Mavic pioneered complete 'system wheels' in the 1990s (followed by companies such as Shimano and Fulcrum) superior bicycle wheels have become readily available off the shelf.

The benefit of a system wheel is that the manufacturer can design the best wheel possible at that price without being obliged to make any compromises. (Compare this with the situation where, say, Mavic make a rim, they have to second guess how it will work with the vast array of spokes and hubs on the market.) With a wheel system, the manufacturer takes complete control of all the elements that go into the creation of a quality wheel - lacing pattern, spoke count, spoke thickness, spoke tension, rim width, hub flange size....

Furthermore, they can integrate the drilling patterns of both the hub and the rim with the bend and thickness of the spokes to ensure each spoke nestles perfectly in place and thus minimise stress on the spoke holes. Designing the rear wheel from scratch enables offset spoke lacing patterns that minimise 'dishing', and hence creates a stronger wheel. The manufacturer can reinforce the hub and rim or shave weight where appropriate depending whether the wheel is going to be used with a rim or a hub brake. They can create a complete range of wheels from the lightest weight to the absolute strongest with numerous options in between.

The end result is a wheel that you can argue is 'beyond hand built' quality yet, thanks to the economies of scale enjoyed by companies such as Mavic, Fulcrum and Shimano, one of these system wheels need not be significantly more expensive than a hand-built wheel made with a similar quality hub, rim and spokes.
