Cannondale's latest winning freeride design

No Longer Available

Product Description

Cannondale have spent the last 10 years developing their own Headshok and Lefty front suspension systems. Like all cutting-edge designs these systems have their fans, and their detractors. If, for instance, you accepted that Cannondale's single pivot rear suspension was on the money, but you wanted more travel than the 80mm delivered by Headshok, or you were sceptical about the efficacy of the single-legged fork, you were left out of the loop.

That's were Cannondale's latest dual suspension design, the Gemini, comes in. With 140-170mm adjustable rear travel, it comes close to a World Cup DH rig, yet the whole bike weighs just 30lbs/14kg. Up front, they have retained the massively-oversized, you'll-never-break-this head tube, big enough to accept a HeadShok steerer. But here, Cannondale have fitted reducer cups so the Gemini takes a 125mm-travel RockShox Psylo Tulio fork with a regular inch and an eighth steerer. And you can retrofit a Marzocchi or whatever in future.

Appropriately equipped with proven gear - Shimano LX shifters & rear mech, Mavic 3.1 UST rims, XT freehub, Magura Louise hydraulic brakes, Fox Float RL rear shock - first impressions are very good.

'The Gemini 1000 is a killer bike. The riding position is excellent and the suspension action is first rate.... The Gemini defied gravity on the climbs and flowed like water on the descents. If Cannondale's dogmatic approach to front suspension has steered you towards other manufacturers in the past, the Gemini could change all that. 5/5.'
