Brompton H6L Nickel Edition '17

This bike's super-hard nickel-plated finish helps create a Brompton that is even better looking and more resistant to dings, scratches and the elements.

Why nickel?
Nickel isn't just about bestowing the Brompton a brilliant silvery finish. The 50 micron nickel plating is proven in deep sea drilling applications as being exceptionally corrosion resistant and hard wearing - perfect attributes for an all-weather bicycle frame.

Photograph disclaimer
The photos displayed on this page are Brompton Nickel Edition stock images so they will not portray the finish or the specification of the Brompton H6L Nickel Edition 2017 bicycle with perfect accuracy. They do however give you an idea how beautiful this bike will be.

Brompton H6L

  • 'H' stand for this bike's H-Type bars - the highest Brompton do. By locating the handlebar hinge 3cm higher, an H-Type Brompton's handlebar grips are positioned 5.5cm higher than they would be if you rode a Brompton with their standard M-Type bars. The grips of an H-Type bar are 107cm (42 inches) high, compared with the grips of an M-type bar (which are 101.5cm/40 inches above ground level). This 2 inches can make all the difference if you are above average height and/or you suffer back or neck pain on account of riding a bike with bars that are too low for comfort
  • '6' refers to its BWR [Brompton Wide Range] gearing which combines a 3-speed hub gear with a simple derailleur which moves the chain between 2-cogs to give you a decent range of 6 evenly spaced gears
  • 'L' is Brompton code for coming ready fitted with mudguards
  • Every Brompton now comes with a simple Saddle Height Insert which automatically resets the seatpin at the correct height whenever you unfold the bike to ride it.

Continual Evolution
Brompton's continued growth and success is based on starting with a great idea - what is generally considered the best folding bike design - and then continually developing it as witnessed with this Nickel Edition Brompton.

For 2017, Brompton have enhanced the ergonomics of every bike as follows

  • More intuitive underbar gear shifters
  • Its new lock-on grips are lighter weight and they'll never slip out of position
  • Saddle-mountable light - a special mount at the top of the seatpost makes a perfect perch for a USB-rechargeable Cat Eye LED rear light
  • Mounted on the brake lever, the sweet-toned brass bell is always within easy reach
  • You can mount the bell on the right or LH lever, whichever is more convenient
