Another year, another batch of incredible mountain bikes added to our inventory! We have been lucky enough to test some of these out when they came in-store, and we must say! OH MY...
We’ve put together a list of eight of the mountain bikes for 2022 we got to check out, from XC and down-country whippets to full-on enduro bikes and electric mountain bikes.
The new Whyte T-160 RS continues to build on the successful platform of the popular T-140 but comes with 29-inch wheels to take on more travel. Like all of Whyte’s best full suspension mountain bikes made from alloy, the T-160 uses a full hydroformed aluminium frameset. Nice touches like smooth welds around the head tube, internal cable routing and rubber armour on the chain stay and underneath the down tube keep it perfectly balanced with tonnes of stopping power at your fingertips.
The new Specialized Rockhopper Sport 29 2022 Hardtail Mountain Bike really packs a serious amount of performance without blowing your spending budget. It comes equipped with Tektro M275 hydraulic disc brakes, MicroSHIFT shifting from Shimano and an SR SunTour XCM fork that's ready for any trail. The lightweight yet durable Premium A1 Aluminium features hydroformed top and down tubes to keep weight low and strength high, all while providing increased standover clearance.
Giant continues its evolution of its popular Trance Advanced Pro X 29 trail bike with a fully revamped version. The new geometry adapts to the terrain, giving you all the confidence and control you need on all types of singletrack. With its maestro rear suspension featuring a trunnion mount shock with a longer stroke and a smoother feel, it makes you want to rip on all the different types of terrain. The Advanced Forged Composite upper rocker arm provides increased stiffness and strength for perfect handling.
Using the very latest Whyte trail geometry, the 806 has a more compact geometry, meaning slightly less length, suiting riders with shorter proportions. Featuring Shimano Deore's smooth shifting, the latest Shadow Plus clutch rear derailleur, combined with a Whyte 2pcs chain set with a narrow-wide chain ring for perfect chain control on rough terrain, leads to improved agility and a more dynamic ride.
The Liv Tempt E+ is more than just a way to get around. The easy-to-access EnergyPak side-release battery is elegantly integrated into a lightweight and durable ALUXX-Grade aluminium frame. This is specifically designed and tuned for women using Liv’s women first philosophy. The ultra-reliable EnergyPak has an average range of 120 km "Terrian Depending" helping you ride further to access to new trails and experiences.
Whyte e-Hardtails equal super-versatile, power-assisted performance with all-weather reliability. Thanks to its UK design, it means outstanding handling, balance, and control with weather-proof construction. Whether you’re upgrading your back on the office commute or heading for the hills, the all-new Whyte E-505 29ER eHardtail will handle anything the road or forest has in store for you.
Specialized’s new Turbo Tero 3.0 blends practical utility with MTB styling and some confidence-boosting components to boot! Thanks to this, the Tero’s componentry is tailored to enhance control and confidence, which, along with a 530Wh battery integrated into the aluminium frame, makes short work of any of the steepest climbs put in its way. If you’re looking for an MTB-styled, around-town utility bike, the Tero is the bike for you.
The new 2022 Giant Reign E+ has a new motor, bigger battery, and shorter back end, making it one of the most exciting bikes to take on any outdoor challenge! Continuing to carry the mantle as the brand’s electric enduro bike! It has big suspension, new geometry with a shorter rear end and a longer reach, SRAM Code RSC, hydraulic disc brakes, and aggressive SRAM XO1 Eagle Shifters to handle any gnarly terrain. This E MTB makes steep mountain climbs easy while allowing you to enjoy fun descents all day long.
