Starting Point: Castle Car Park, Old Great
North Road, Newark
Alternative Starting Point: Southwell,
ample parking, or Caunton where village
parking is available
Distance: The Newark & Southwell Loop is
38miles/61km
Type of Route: Day circular cycle ride on
quiet country lanes with a short town centre
section through Southwell; ‘A’ road total little
more than a mile. Ideal for a short break.
Grade: E asy/Moderate

some short hills ensure a good run through
the gears. High point at The Dukes Wood 358

Newark to Gainsborough route
Booze and Buns: Some excellent pubs
along the Loop, Southwell for teashops and
restaurants. In Newark, Garnetts is a Mecca
for local cyclists
