REPAIRS AND SERVICE CENTRE

While many of our customers delight in spending a weekend diligently tweaking, overhauling or repairing their bicycles, many riders do not have the time, the tools or the inclination to do it themselves. If this sounds like you, why not pop your bike into the shop for a free safety checkover so we can discuss your service requirements. To simplify your choices, we have created a Service Menu to help you select the most appropriate type of overhaul.

If your needs are more specific, please ask for a quote. We are happy to do any repair, be it replacing an inner tube on the spot (the £5 price includes the cost of a new tube), building a new set of wheels, or overhauling your suspension forks.

Free safety check-over and estimate
before carrying out any repair.

Any bike:
We will repair any type of cycle regardless of where you bought it.

Handbuilt wheels:
Any hub & rim combination, and any spoking pattern. If it can be built we will build it.

Suspension forks:
Full servicing and rebuilding of all suspension forks. We are a Service Centre for both RockShox and Answer Manitou.

Fast Repairs:
If you book the repair in advance, and bring the bike into the shop before 12.00 noon, we can usually have the job completed that same evening.

Qualified Mechanics:

Our repair mechanics are trained to Association of Cycle Traders 'CyTech' standards - the recognised professional qualification for cycle mechanics.

If you just need some advice on how to make your bike work safer and better, just pop in and discuss your requirements. Advice is free.

Take advantage of one of our great service packages below:

Basic Service
£20 excluding parts
Standard Service
£35 excluding parts
Deluxe Service
£85 excluding parts

Includes:
Checking and adjusting gears
Checking and adjusting brakes
Checking and inflating tyres

The Basic Service is the mechanical equivalent of a doctor's medical. If you don't use your bike a great deal, the Basic Service is all you might require, so you will gain the peace of mind that comes from knowing that your gears change smoothly, and that your brakes work fine. The mechanic will not undertake any investigative work at the Basic Service. He will however, highlight any obvious problems that would fall outwith the scope of the Basic Service when he checks the bike over with you. We will also advise you if any parts need replaced. Naturally, the price of any new parts fitted will be added on to the price of the Basic Service.

Includes;
Checking and adjusting gears
Checking and adjusting brakes
Checking and inflating tyres
Checking and adjusting all bearings
Checking and tightening all nuts and bolts
Full road test
6 month guarantee on work done

The Standard Service is the mechanical equivalent to a two week visit to a health farm. For the average user, we recommend this comprehensive service where we check over the whole bicycle. The Standard Service comes with a six month warranty on the work carried out, and a one year warranty on new parts fitted. Again, any new parts required will be highlighted by the mechanic when the bicycle is received, but are not included in the price.

Includes;
Checking and adjusting gears
Checking and adjusting brakes
Checking and inflating tyres
Stripping and regreasing all serviceable bearings
Truing wheels
Checking and tightening all nuts and bolts
Full road test
6 month guarantee on work done

The Deluxe Service is the mechanical equivalent of being reborn. If you ride every day, we recommend that you treat your bike to an annual Deluxe Service. Similarly, if maintenance has been minimal over the years, a Deluxe Service will make the bike ride like new again. All parts of the bicycle are overhauled, new brake and gear cables are fitted, and all serviceable bearings are stripped, re-greased and new balls fitted. The Deluxe Service comes with a 6 month guarantee on the work carried out, and a one year warranty on new parts fitted. Again, the cost of any new parts required (including your choice of cables and bearings) will be highlighted by the mechanic when the bicycle is received, but these are not included in the price.

FORK SERVICING

Edinburgh Bicycle mechanics have years of experience servicing the major fork brands:

  • Forks are removed from the frame, stripped, degreased, cleaned, and re-assembled with fresh shock oil.
  • The service will be written up for your records.
  • Price (including shock oil): £24.
  • Cannondale Headshok servicing: £45.
  • New seals and bushings can be fitted if required. This costs extra.
  • 24 to 48 hour turnaround unless parts have to be ordered.
  • The majority of forks are serviced in-house, the main exception being Fox whose Forx must be serviced by Mojo, their authorised UK importer and service centre. Even then, you can leave the bike with us and we'll take responsibility for removing the fork, dealing with dispatch and delivery, and reinstalling it with perfect brake and headset adjustment.
