Ask a question
Q. Please could you tell me what colour the front wheel is? Does this match the rear wheel 'silver'? Thanks
A. Yes it does match the rear wheel.
Q. I have had my wheels stolen from my giant defy 2 XL, red and block model. SR 2 rims, 32H hubs would these wilkinsons fit ok?
A. We believe these wheels will work unless you have a 11speed cassette then you would need a 11speed hub.
Q. Is the front wheel really more expensive than the rear? This seems unusual....
A. Sorry, that is incorrect. The front is £32.99 although we are out of stock at the moment.
Q. What is the external width of the rim on this wheel?
A. We have just measured the wheel for you, the external width of the rim is 19mm. We hope this helps.
Q. Hi there, I'm in the process of attempting to restore an old Carlton pro am (circa 1980 frame) that I've gotten from a friend. It's mostly intact but currently missing a front wheel. It's my first foray into restoration so would this wheel be a suitable choice for this project? Many thanks!
A. Thanks for your question. From a quick google search, it looks like the Pro-Am has had both 700c (622mm) and 27" (630mm) throughout it's years of production. I would advise having a look at the rear wheel and seeing if there are any markings on the tyre or rim. It will usually have "622-xx-" somewhere on the tyre which will indicate if it is a 622 or a 630.
Q. What is the spacing of the hub on this wheel?
A. It is 130mm spaced.
Q. I am in the process of renovating a 1983 peugot Roadbike, the 700cc chrome wheels are quite pitted, would your aluminium narrow rims take a suntours 'perfect' 5speed cassette, or would I be better calling in your Sheffield store with the wheels and asking their advice?
A. A 5 speed freewheel should fit on this wheel, thread size being 1.37"x24tpi and changing from steel to alu rims should also improve the bikes handling performance and braking. Please check that the original wheels are 700c and not 27" as you might need to consider 'long-drop' calipers if required. We're always happy to talk about bikes and if you'd like to come along to our Store to discuss options you'd be very welcome - please bring the Peugeot with you if at all possible.
Q. Hi, would this rim be suitable for 700 x 23c tyres? Many thanks, Terry
A. The 700c QR wheels use a narrow rim which is best suited to tyres from 700 x 23 - 28.
