Whyte T-130 S

This SCR (Single Chain Ring) version of the Whyte T-130 boasts high-end SRAM equipment in the shape of a new GX 1x11 transmission, a RockShox Revelation fork, a RockShox Monarch shock, a RockShox Reverb dropper seatpost and SRAM DB5 hydraulic disc brakes.

SCR
SCR is Whyte's Single Chain Ring specific dual suspension frame. Its SCS Symmetrical Chain Stays and its wider main pivot create an even stronger and more reliably flex-resistant rig. This translates to you, the rider, as improved cornering confidence and enhanced suspension performance.

SRAM 1x11 transmission

  • Thanks to its 10-42 tooth 11-speed cassette, you get a massive gear range (over 400% difference between top and bottom gear) in a simplified format comprising a single shifter, a single gear mech and a single chainring.
  • Doing away with the front derailleur, the LH shifter and one or two chainrings means less weight, less complication and less to go wrong.
  • The beginner will be spared learning about what they have to push or pull on each lever to get into a lower or higher gear.
  • With a single lever, it becomes immediately clear.
  • Even massively experienced racing mountain bikers appreciate this simplicity in the heat of competition. No more 'double shifting' to get in the right gear.
  • The German-engineered SRAM X-Sync Direct Mount chainring is at the heart of 1x11 technology.
  • This chainring features alternating fat/thin teeth which mesh more accurately with the corresponding wide space between the chain's outer links and the narrower space between the chain's inner links.
  • The X-Sync chainring's tall square-edged teeth mesh so accurately with the chain, this design has virtually eliminated the possibility of a dropped chain.
  • The SRAM GX rear derailleur's roller bearing clutch keeps the chain in constant tension to delivers maximum drivetrain stability and to deliver incredibly positive shifting, while virtually eliminating derailleur bounce and chain slap.
  • This derailleur's X-Horizon ‘straight parallelogram’ design limits movement to the horizontal axis to ensure fast accurate shifting, while the mech's large upper pulley's offset design helps eliminate ghost shifting by maintaining a constant gap between the chain and the sealed cartridge bearing jockey wheel in every gear.

When we talk about a bicycle’s geometry, we’re talking about the angles and measurements that determine where the rider is positioned between the wheels, and how the bike connects with the ground. More than the components or the frame material, a bike’s geometry defines the way it rides. It's the key factor that sets Whyte apart from the competition.

The Whyte formula has been 15 years in the making. It’s a formula that inspires confidence in beginners and casual cyclists alike, whilst allowing Whyte's expert race teams to perform to the absolute limits of their ability. Confidence is Whyte's ultimate goal when designing a bike.

This confidence is achieved by combining a relaxed head angle (the angle the fork comes out of the frame) with a longer than average front centre to create a bike that is stable at speed and feels predictable, especially when the terrain gets steeper. To sharpen up the steering response for low-speed precision, wide handlebars and short stems are specced. At the back of the bike, the aim is to make the chainstays as short as physically possible to maximise the bike’s agility. It’s a formula that works in all situations, whatever your ambitions and whatever your level of skill. Simply put, geometry can make or break a bike.

Aluminium Custom Tubing
The premium grade 6061 aluminium Whyte use has been specially developed to allow for hydro-forming (where hot oil is pumped through the tube at pressure to fine-tune its profile).

Every tubes is custom drawn to Whyte's own specifications. This translates into thinner tube butting profiles over the entire length of the tube, and means that for the same strength, stiffness and fatigue characteristics, Whyte can engineer a lighter chassis.

Whyte hydro-formed aluminium frame designs concentrate on creating the most efficient shapes for the chassis,whilst retaining an elegant overall design profile. Take the seatstays and chainstays for example. As well as being internally butted to reduce weight, the stays are shaped to enhance comfort and maximise tyre and mud clearance.

Cockpit
Whyte's trail-tuned geometry is perfectly complemented by the T130's 760mm wide bars and Whyte's short (40 or 50mm depending on frame size) Gravity stem which combine to sharpen up the steering response when manoeuvring off road, at high speeds or slow.

For 2016 the trickle-down technology reaches true affordability. Using Whyte’s SCR frame, SRAM’s new 1 by 11 GX group and the Stealth Reverb the T-130S is the new UK Trail Bike benchmark.

The geometry of the T-130 has been adjusted to accommodate a shorter stem for 2016 giving the bike some of the most progressive geometry in this category and very similar to the award winning 900 series trail hardtails.

A low slung shock gives the T130 plenty of stand-over height and suspension kinematics that make the bike really “pump” through your favourite singletrack.'
