Whyte Strawberry Hill Women's
The Whyte Strawberry Hill combines high end components, such as a Shimano 3x9 transmission, with the look of a traditional "ladies bike" - like a midwife might ride in a BBC period drama.
- The custom butted hydroformed alloy frame's laid-back long-wheelbase geometry, its swept-back bars and its Selle Royal saddle combine to create a supremely comfortable ride.
- Shimano 3x9 Altus/Acera shifters and mechs ensure smooth clean gear shifting.
- The Maxxis Roamer 700x42 tyres roll smooth on the road, offer comfort on more gravelly paths and boast Kevlar puncture protection.
- Tektro V-brakes on alloy wheels keep you in control.
- At 12.6kg (manufacturer's published weight) the Whyte Strawberry Hill is much lighter than most traditional-styled ladies' bikes.
'Whyte Strawberry Hill Women's
The Strawberry Hill is Whyte’s take on a lifestyle bike. Stylish is clearly the aim but we also wanted to add a technical solution, so that this bike could handle hills and headwinds without drama. A 27-speed Shimano drive train concealed behind a full chain guard gives you performance and elegance.
Comfort was given top priority, with the Strawberry Hill. The Selle Royal Milo saddle is very comfortable but also lightweight. The grips from Ergo are designed to fit your palm on a swept handle bar bike and even the brake levers have a kraton insert to add a tactile and comfortable feel.
Full mudguards, a chainset cover and internal cable routing keep all the moving parts away from the rider.
Meanwhile, you’ll appreciate the Strawberry Hill’s triple-butted aluminium frame for both its comfort and light weight, making it even easier to get up the hills, or just to lift up the stairs when you get home.'
Whyte Custom-drawn Tubing
Every Whyte aluminium frame is built with custom drawn tubes. This means that Whyte go to the expense of spec'ing a different tube set for each frame size. Apparently, it’s normal practice for bike companies to save money by using the same tube set for every size. This means that a butted tubeset will have to be designed around the smallest frame size. Say the smallest frame size is 16”. When the tubes are cut to size, they will have a short thicker-walled section at each end as you would expect from butted tubes. When the same tube set is used to create a 21” frame a much larger proportion of the tube will be thick walled. That’s why large frames are often disproportionately heavier than they need be. Custom tubing is Whyte's guarantee that the frame will be as light as possible in every size.
