Whyte Cambridge '17
One of our most popular flatbar urban commuter/road bikes, the Whyte Cambridge is upgraded for 2017 with the convenience of SRAM 1x11 gear shifting.
Whyte Urban Commuter Bikes
This flatbar road bike delivers the engaging, quick-accelerating, fast-steering ride you would expect with a similar price road bike, matched with the flat bar control you'll be familiar with if you've ever ridden a mountain bike.
Whyte Urban Commuter Bikes such as the Cambridge have become the first choice of experienced cyclists who normally ride a mountain bike or a racing bike, but are looking for a flatbar city bike that doesn't compromise performance, thanks to its lightweight butted aluminium frame, its zippy-but-forgiving puncture-resistant 700x32 tyres, its single-chainring drivetrain and its all-weather low maintenance performance of hydraulic disc brakes.
The Cambridge employs some of the best elements of Whyte’s unique UK trail optimised MTB hardtails to create a nippy, agile city bike. Elements such as the custom gauge 6061 aluminium frame's long wheelbase and relaxed 70 degree head angle for high speed stability; a shorter stem for excellent slow speed manoeuvrability; and shaped, butted, profiled stays to create a responsive yet shock-damping rear triangle.
Mudguard and rack compatible
Whyte's custom dropout positions the rear disc brake caliper inside the rear triangle so it doesn’t preclude fitting a standard mudguard and pannier rack. The fork is also eyeletted to take a full length mudguard, making this 'urban bike' perfect for trips to the countryside and cycling holidays too.
'We were excited to be able to spec SRAM’s new Apex 1 road groupset on the Cambridge. With its 1 by 11 wide range 11-42T drivetrain, it will help you conquer even the hilliest of cities.
Based on our high performance mountain bike geometry, all our Fast Urban bikes have a long wheelbase and relaxed head angle for high speed stability, with a shorter stem for excellent slow speed manoeuvrability.
For 2017 we have a brand new frame, featuring a new front triangle with BBX internal cable routing and new slimmed down seat stays to give even more comfort.'
