Specialized S-Works Helmet
Worn by Pro teams such as Quick Step, Lampre, Lotto and ISD, at around 200g, the S-Works is the lightest CPSC-certified helmet in the world.

- Instrap system minimizes strap length and reduces strap contact, improving comfort. Here, the webbing straps are stitched at 4 points to the Innermatrix. That way the straps will never pull or twist as they have a tendency to on lesser lids.

I wanted to upgrade from a fairly basic one size fits all lid so ordered the S-Works and the Giro Atmos On-line saying I would definitely return at least one of them. Both had good points but for me the S-Works was by far the best and most comfortable fit on my head. At first it seemed too tight at the sides of my head but that feeling didn't last, in fact there was sufficient room for the double layer of a buff on a cold day. Keeping it on for hours on end gave no issues, quite the reverse. You have to think about it to realise it's on your head - the very light load of the helmet seems spread over the whole head. I've had it on for a couple of six hour rides now and just did not notice it was there - fantastic. The straps are very light and again are not noticed - a good fit round the ears and chin. I've still to wear it on a hot day but the indications are it will be lovely and cool. I don't know whether the S-Works particularly suits my head shape but for me this is a great piece of kit. |
