Specialized Hotrock 20 Street Girls 2017
Specialized Hotrock 20 6-Speed Street Girls
The Specialized Hotrock 20 6-Speed Street Girls is a smoother-rolling, lighter weight, all-new Specialized street bike for girls.
Hotrock Street bikes offer a welcome alternative to Specialized's Hotrock mountain bikes, which have been among our best selling kids' bikes since the 1990s.
Specialized Hotrock Street bikes stand out for their 1.5-inch wide Specialized Nimbus tyres which are smoother rolling than a Hotrock 20's 2.125-inch wide knobbly mountain bike tyres. Similarly, a Specialized Hotrock Street bike's rigid alloy fork will be much lighter than the standard model's steel suspension fork.
- The Specialized Hotrock 20 Street bike's aluminium alloy frame is lightweight, but it's built to take bumps and scrapes (check the forged dropouts - just like an adult Specialized Hardrock).
- Shimano 6-speed gearing with twistshifter is easier for kids to operate and is more durable than a trigger shifter.
- Forged alloy chainset, forged alloy 4-bolt A-Head stem, 27.2mm alloy micro-adjust seatpost, stainless steel spokes, alloy wheel rims and hubs - this is all quality kit that wouldn't be out of place on a £300 adult bike.
- Fits girls from 5-6 years old. This bike is often not outgrown till they're 10. And the Hotrock is so well made, if it's looked after, it should be fit to pass on to the next rider.
Girls' Bike or Boys' Bike?
To keep your options open, most of the bikes in our kids’ range are available in both boys’ and girls’ versions. In our experience the tomboy instinct means that most girls are perfectly happy with a boys’ bike. The reverse is rarely true. Offering a lad a lasses’ bike might provoke the kind of response you would get if you asked a boy racer petrol-head to consider a pink Mini over a black Subaru. Call it an early example of male insecurity but this factor is worth bearing in mind - especially if there is a possibility that, once it's outgrown, you might want to pass (or sell) the bike onto a boy in years to come.
