Specialized Crosstrail Overview
When Specialized introduced their unisex Crosstrail and women's Ariel ranges of trail capable commuter bikes in 2008 they created a genre - much as Specialized have done throughout their history (think Specialized Stumpjumper mountain bike or Roubaix sportive road bike).
As is the Specialized way, the Crosstrail concept has evolved and been refined, so their 2017 models are better looking and ride more smoothly than ever. For all these improvements, every Crosstrail bike lives up to Specialized's original ambition - that is to create a trail-capable commuter bike.
To this end, every Crosstrail rolls on 700x38 tyres which are faster than off road knobblies and more forgiving than 23/25mm-wide road bike tyres. Pannier rack and mudguard compatibility make a Crosstrail perfect for commuting, touring and general riding. The suspension fork offers shock absorption that helps make the bike suitable for light trail riding. The fork's 60mm travel can be locked out at the turn of a dial if you prefer the efficiency of a rigid fork on smooth roads.
It's little wonder that Crosstrail bikes have been among our most consistent best sellers since their introduction. If you are looking for one bike that works well over the widest spectrum of conditions, a rugged commuter/hybrid such as a Specialized Crosstrail is well worth considering.
