    Specialized Crosstrail Comp Disc

This is like the Specialized Crosstrail Sport Disc upgraded with Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, Shimano Alivio 3x9 Rapidfire shifters and a Deore rear mech.

Upgrades from Specialized Crosstrail Sport Disc

    • Real brand-name Shimano hydraulic disc brakes.
    • This version of the SR SunTour SF-11 fork has magnesium lower legs and CrMo uppers.
    • Shimano Alivio 3x9 Rapidfire gearing with Deore rear mech.

Same as Specialized Crosstrail Sport Disc

The suspension forks and the tyres define the Crosstrail as Specialized's go-anywhere bike. Specialized Borough 700x45 tyres are faster than MTB knobblies but have enough bite to offer traction in loose conditions. The SR fork is perfect for entry level trail centre use. Specialized’s own Body Geometry saddle and grips ensure comfort wherever you ride. As with the whole Crosstrail family, eyelets for fitting mudguards and rack ensure functionality.

I got one of these late last year as I already own a specialized road bike and am happy with that so stuck with the same brand. After riding my Crosstrail for a few months now I am still very pleased with it. I use it for commuting on a mix of tarmac, gravel paths and potholes and it copes well. The front suspension lockout is useful as you can 'switch off' the suspension whilst moving when you do not need it [on smooth tarmac] and switch it back on for potholes bumps off-road etc. The black and red colour scheme is stunning and many people have said how good it looks. I have fitted lights and mudguards for all year round use and also fitted Shimano pedals with flats on one side and SPD fittings on the other so you have a choice of footwear. I do not do much off-road on it as I bought mainly for work and it does everything I want it to. The gear change is smooth and precise although I mainly use the big ring only up front. The hydraulic disc brakes are brilliant. The 48 tooth front cog means it is pretty quick on tarmac too.
