Specialized BG Spirita RBX Women's Shoe

The RBX is a special more-walkable edition of Specialized's famous BG Spirita women's road bike shoe.

  • 2-bolt SPD-style drilling - the cleat is bolted to a recess in the sole of the shoe so (unlike 3-bolt Look-like cleats) it barely compromises your ability to walk.
  • Specialized's unique SlipNot rubber sole ensures you can walk in a more sure-footed fashion in RBX shoes.
  • These concessions to walking make Specialized BG Spirita RBX shoes a good choice if their intended use is 90% riding / 10% walking.
  • Despite these concession, the sole registers 6.00 on the Specialized stiffness scale.
  • This makes the Spirita RBX much stiffer than a trainer-style cycling shoe such as the 3.0-stiffness Specialized Tahoe Women's and more flexible than the 11.0-stiffness Specialized BG Pro Road shoe.
  • Perfect for sportives, fun rides, commuting and touring.
  • The 3 Velcro straps ensure a safe (no laces), secure, comfortable and easily tunable fit.
  • Synthetic leather / mesh uppers.
  • The synthetic leather upper is supple but hard wearing.
  • The uppers' mesh panels helps make these shoes fast drying.
  • Features Specialized's unique performance and comfort-enhancing Body Geometry footbed and sole.
  • 710g - based upon weighing a size 41 pair of these shoes at Bike Co-op HQ in October 2012.

'The ideal shoe for Gran Fondo or indoor cycling, this comfortable shoe blends BodyGeometry performance with the stability of our SlipNot™ rubber sole.'

Specialized BG (Body Geometry) Shoes

Specialized BG Shoes incorporate 3 Body Geometry elements in their footbeds and the orthotic outsoles.

  • The Varus Wedge corrects the foot angle for optimal alignment of the knee and the foot when pedalling.
  • The Longitudinal Arch Support does what it says on the shoe box.
  • The Metatarsal Button lifts and separates the metatarsal bones (the long bones of the forefoot) to help prevent the compression, numbness, discomfort and hot spots you can experience when riding in traditional cycling shoes, which can be so snug, they compress the nerves and arteries between the metatarsal bones.

Specialized employed Dr Andy Pruitt, renowned U.S. author, sports scientist and national coach, in the development of their Body Geometry range of shoes. BG Shoes boast a special footbed which optimises the foot's position and thus helps eliminate pressure on both the knee and the foot bones when you pedal. It is easy to understand why Specialized BG shoes are the most popular shoes in the pro peloton.

Ask a question
Q. Does this shoe come with the cleat connection? And will it connect to a spinning bike pedal? Thank you
A. The BG Spirita RBX shoes are SPD (2-bolt stye) fitting. They do not come supplied with cleats. Cleats are specific to the pedal used so come supplied with new pedals or can be purchased separately. If the spinning bike you are using has SPD pedals then you can use the Spirta shoes (you would need to check as to the pedals fitted to get the correct cleats), alternatively you may be able to use your own pedals. Should you decide to purchase your own pedals then we would recommend something like the Shimano A520 pedals which you can see here .
