Specialized Allez

Allez means ‘go’. This bike delivers.

The Allez has inherited the 4-figure Specialized’s Tarmac Comp’s bowed top tube and pencil-thin seatstays for improved vertical compliance. Meanwhile, the lightweight Specialized FACT (Functionally Advanced Composite Technology) carbon fork helps soak up road vibrations and contributes to the Allez’s laser-accurate steering. Shimano 2300 Dual Control derailleurs make light work of shifting through the 2x8=16-speed gears.

  • Specialized's race-inspired A1 Premium Aluminium fully manipulated smooth-welded frame is stiff, light, and fast.
  • Specialized's FACT fork with carbon legs contribute to the Allez smooth ride and precise steering.
  • Shimano 2300 2x8-speed Dual Control shifters, mechs & 34/50 compact chainset for assured gear changes.
  • 12-degree reversible stem with 31.8mm bar clamp for strength and versatile positioning.
  • Specialized Espoir Sport 700x23 tyres with double BlackBelt puncture resistance.
  • Specialized's own Body Geometry saddle - regularly rated the most comfortable you can buy.
  • Alex rims, stainless steel spokes and forged aluminium hubs make for a fine set of wheels.

'Stiff, light, race-inspired Allez offers great acceleration and handling—perfect for aspiring racers, or as a winter training bike for more accomplished veterans. Shimano compact gearing makes even the toughest climbs more accessible.'

Got this bike thought the bike to work offer. Never had a road bike before, but the lads at the Leeds shop said give it a go. It’s light and you spin up to speed so quickly. The only down side I see is I can't fit fixed mudguards there is no fixing eyes so have to use universal ones and they don’t fit right, apart from that good bike. This bike was use to save money just to go to work but because its so nice to ride I am on it all the time. Thank you so much.
Ask a question
Q. Given a good rider what is the top speed of this bike downhill and level ground?
A. It's a bit of a strange and open question: What's your idea of a 'good rider'?

I would expect a fairly average club rider who rides regularly and train 1-2 times a week to be able to maintain 18-22mph over a 3-4hour run, with 'Sprints' on level ground hitting 35+mph and descending at anything up to 50+mph.
One of the most telling factors with speed is always the wind, and how the rider has dressed. Tight, aerodynamic clothing can offer 10% to your previous personal best.

The Allez 16, although sold as a entry-level road bike, is a very capable bike and comes equipped with a 52/39t chainset and a 13-26 cassette, this offers a good range of gears of climbing, level fast-paced runs and descending. A genuine road bike that should encourage you to push and get the most out of your legs.
